household was a daughter, Nannie, aged 25, born in Arkansas. Vincent listed
his occupation as a farmer and his wife Sarah was keeping house. Nannie
is listed as "Idiotic". Directly below the census entry for Vincent
is the family of Thomas A. Crawford, meaning their properties were adjoining.
There are a large number of Crawford families still living in the vicinity of Panola, Shelby and Rusk counties. At some point before the Civil War, Andrew & Mary Crawford moved to Panola county Texas. They are buried on the old plantation near Beckville. The present house stands on the original foundation. The fireplace and chimney are the identical ones used by Andrew and Mary. In 1959, a grandaughter, Mrs. Hettie Crawford Jones lived on the place.
