John Gilmore.  Last will and testament dated 29 March 1841 - probated January Term 1842.  Beloved son, James Gilmore; beloved son, John Gilmore; land in Clarke County, Alabama; beloved daughter, Elizabeth Robin; beloved son, Thomas Gilmore; beloved daughter, Nancy Landrum; beloved son, William Gilmore; beloved daughter, Anny Henson; sons, John and James Gilmore, executors.  Witnesses: James Hildreth, Westley Gilmore, Joel R. Raben.


 
 
. The GILMORE family came out of Pa., into Augusta County, Virginia and into Cumberland county, North Carolina. 

John Gilmore's Last Will & Testament

 In the name of God Amen, being in my right mind and recollection
though in my old age, I do therefore make, ordain, and constitute, this my last will and testament. First of all I desire to give my sole to God who gave
it and my body to be buried in a decent Christian burial, then I will and
bequeath to my beloved children, viz:
 To my beloved son James Gilmore, the East half of the South East
Quarter of Section Eight of Township 16 of Range Two, East of the District of Demoplois *formerly of St. Stephens) containing eighty one 121
hundreth acres and a negro man by the name of Sam and his wife by the name of Becky.One waggon and one yoke of oxen to his part. 
To my beloved son John Gilmore one eight of land lying in Clarke County, being the East half of the South East Quarter of Section fourteen Township twelve of Range five of the District of Cahawba and one negro woman by the name of Ailsey and the black smith tools to his part.
To my beloved daughter Elizabeth Rabia one negro man by the name of Harry to her part. 
To my beloved son Thomas Gilmore one negro girl by the name of Ester and one by the name of Fanney to his part.
To my beloved daughter Nancy Landrum one negro woman by the name of
Hetty and one boy by the name of Stephen to her part. 
To my beloved son William Gilmore one negro boy by the name of Riley and one girl by the name of Lucy to his part. 
To my beloved daughter Anny Hinson one negro woman by the name
of Rosanna and one child by the name of Mary Ann and one by the name
of Prince to her and to her heirs to her part. 
The above named children to have and to hold the property annexed to their individiual names as in the rotation and all the rest that may be found in my posession after my death to be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided between the above named heirs and I further desire that my sons John and James Gilmore act as Executors to this my last will and testament assigned by mysely thoroughly rational and in the presence of us this 29th March 1841

 I, A.L. Hasty, Judge of Probate in and for the said County and State,
hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the
last will and testamentof Joh Gilmore as the same appears of record in the
office of the Judge of Probate of Marengo County, Alabama, in record
of will "A", and on page 229.
 Given under my hand and seal of office this the 27th day of February,
1936.
