James GILMORE and his wife Mary GILMORE were the parents of:

Sarah GILMORE, b.Nov 8, 1834 in Marengo County, Alabama who married Simeon
THOMAS on Dec 29, 1853 in Grimes County, Texas. Sarah Gilmore THOMAS died
Feb 27, 1926 and is buried in Bay's Chappel Cemetery along side her husband
Simeon THOMAS, who was born Dec 27, 1827 in Alabama and died Feb 1, 1897.
The children of Simeon THOMAS and Sarah GILMORE were:
John THOMAS, b. 1855
Mary THOMAS, b. 1857
Sarah Louise THOMAS, b. Sep 18, 1861

Sarah Louise THOMAS married John Polk JONES on Dec 15, 1881. They are also
both buried in Bay's Chappel Cemetery. Sarah Louise Thomas JONES died Aug
15, 1937 and her husband John Polk JONES was born Sep 15, 1852 in Lincoln
County, Tennessee and died Dec 15, 1935. Their children were:
John David JONES, b. Dec 24, 1882
Newton Anderson JONES, b. Feb 5, 1896 m. Mary Eula WOOD on April 3, 1922.
They were the parents of 3 children. One of those children is my
grandmother Jewel JONES. The other 2 children are Lurline JONES and her
brother Ivy Knudson JONES. My grandmother was the oldest of the children
and does not speak much about this because she was placed on the doorstep
of the STOVALL family by her parents because she was born out of wedlock.
She refers to the STOVALL family as her family because of obvious reasons.
She was aware of her real parents for a number of years and later on became
as close to her real mother, Mary Eula Wood JONES as one could expect. She
is close to her sister and brother. In fact it was her brother Ivy Knudson
JONES who gave her a lot of info on the WOOD and JONES family, all of which
I have confirmed. I can say that she did not care for her real father
Newton Anderson JONES at all. Interestingly enough, her parents placed her
on the porch of David Christian STOVALL and his wife Dora LANDS. The
Stovall family was unable to have children and there was an interesting
story written in the paper about how this child was placed on their
doorstep. Anopther ironic bit of info on this is that my grandmothers real
great grandmother was Stacy Teague BAY who lived 2 residences down from my
grandmothers adopted grandparents.

. The GILMORE family came out of Pa., into Augusta County, Virginia and into Cumberland county, North Carolina.
