Descendants of Thomas GILMORE
1 Thomas GILMORE b: Abt. 1680 in Ulster, N. Ireland
Thomas and his
family emigrated from Ireland to the
Pensylvania Colony about 1730, with
a large group of Scots Irish (descendants
of early Scotch Presbyterians who
emigrated from Scotland to the Province
of Ulster in northern Ireland).
The Edict of Nantes had been revoked
in 1685, resulting in the persecution of Protestants.
Some were put to death, others transported,
and many fled to American colonies.
