> I found the marriage record for Henry Wheeler to Mary Ann Sawyer
> 8-29-1822 by Spencer Moore J.P. (Baldwin County, GA, Marriage Book
A,
> p. 90). Henry Wheeler was listed in connection with the 1819
land
> lottery (Watson's Battalion District), and the 1821 lottery (Major
> Richard W. Ellis' Battalion). On the latter, and with him,
was listed
> Frances [sic] A. B. Wheeler. Now the latter is significant
because
> Francis A. B/E. Wheeler appears in a WHOLE BUNCH of records I found
in
> the Conroe courthouse. I thought he might be related to Henry
> Wheeler, but didn't have anything with which to make the connection
at
> the time, and didn't copy what I saw. I'd guess that Francis
A. E.
> Wheeler was a (older?) brother of Henry. And I think the "A"
in the
> name stands for Asbury, because a Tuesday, 9 December 1823 notice
in
> the Milledgeville Southern Recorder announced: "Candidate: We are
> authorized to announce Francis Asbury Wheeler as candidate for Coroner
> in the ensuing election, for Baldwin County."
>
> Henry Wheeler was listed in the 1830 census in Jackson County,
> Georgia, but I couldn't find any other record of him.
>
> Returning to Baldwin County, I found a very teasing record (again,
in
> the Milledgeville Southern Recorder): "Tuesday, 23 May 1820.
> Georgia, Baldwin County: AVERY WHEELER and Green Cousins apply for
> letters of administration on the estate of Luke Moore, late of said
> county, deceased."
11 Apr 1827 - Henry H. Wheeler, lived in Doles District of Baldwin County...drew lot 218, 21st District, Section 2, Muscogee County.
Requirements to draw in 1827 lottery: US citizen and resident of GA for three years immediately prior to 1 Jan 1827...white male age 18 and up received 1 draw...white male age 18 and up who had a wife and/or legitmate male child or children under age 18 or unmarried female child was entitled to 2 draws.
interesting...in 1821 there was an Avery Wheeler who lived inTwiggs
County, had 2 draws and won 2 lots in Houston Co.
