BLACK AND WHITE AND BLUE

KENT GRAY

I'm sifting through these photographs
For the love I thought would last
Scattered all around me like the pieces of my heart
Most of them have faded now
But the memories are clear some how
Darling when I lost you I nearly fell apart
If I had to paint a portrait
Of what you meant to me
Darling I would never capture you
There'd be nothing on the pallet
No colors changing hue
It would be in black and white and blue
It would be in black and white and blue

It's starting to look like snow
And I'm all set to go
One last look around and I'll be on my way
I thought that I'd packed it all
But there on the bedroom wall
Was my only photograph of our wedding day
If I had to paint a portrait of what you meant to me
Darling I would never capture you
There'd be nothing on the pallet
No colors changing hue
It would be in black and white and blue
It would be in black and white and blue
Keep thinkin bout the night we met
All I see is your sweet silhouette
Fading till it disappears
Fighting back these tears

I'm sifting through these photographs
For the love I thought would last
Scattered all around me
Like the pieces of my heart
