What can you say
about one of Houston's Top Bands? Not too much, but I will say they
kick ass. So here is what they say The Suspects are a Houston ska
band. They've been playing ska since October of '93. They're
all really old and cranky (That's What They Say...). They have two
CDs out, both of which sell by the thousands on a monthly basis.
The Suspects demand only the finest deli trays. The Suspects will
tour the west coast during the summer of '98, and will drive their van
off a cliff on the way home. Visit the exclusive and swanky Suspects
page on a daily basis to validate your existence and legitimize Bill's
obsession with worthless gadgetry here! |

The actual group
has been around for a while (band formerly known as Bob McNipple), but
the actual "Vent-O-lators" have been around for about 1 and a 1/2 years.
They've put out one CD, "Cool Down", and have come a long way. Recently
it seems as if people want to go see the Ven-O-lators more than any band
within that particular show. Just on saturday, the vents packed in
more people than Spies Like Us. They have an awesome sound, with
a bad-ass old skool touch, and has no comparison to any other band I've
heard. Jon's voice is great, and Kevin, Devon, Steven, and Ryan create
a horn section that is incomparable (Devon and Ryan being 2 of the best
trumbonists in the state). I strongly suggest going to a Vent-O-lators
show if you love ska. |

I recently saw H.G.
at a concert here in Houston at the Abyss. These guys were good!
This six man ska band put on a wonderful show that night and obviously
has a good following. The hornline is made up of the 3 horn players
(one stellar trumpet player, and two trobonists) and the guitarist covers
the vocals for the most part, but they also do a lot of good ska instrumentals.
Their style hits closer to the standard American wave of ska with a pinch
of punk riffs thrown in. Go and see these guys at here. |
