Some
Punk and Ska Bands
(The Gops, Half Loaded,
and The Housewives Choice) |
| The
Gops |

Call me crazy, but I love The Gops. Could it be
that I'm a member of this group??? Well, after years of countless people asking, YES. So here
is the true untold truth of The Gops. We started out as just a punk project playing skate park
benefits. We played with many great guys starting out: O'Doyle Rules, Smart Aleck, and many more
who have disappeared over our 5 year career. Now we play a catchy punk/ska/heavy metal type music
and we were the flagship band of Good Guy Records. Yes, we are still around...we just work with
other bands until the summer. We've been known to play or help with: Dynamite Boy, Ritalin Kids, Igmo, O'Doyle Rules!,
The Cripples, Missle Command, and Paperback Genius. Scott D. from O'Doyle Rules says
that when he hears us he thinks of Bad Religion with Nerf Herder. Check out the page here. |
| Half
Loaded |
|
Some points of Half Loaded has changed over
the years, but one thing has not changed....these guys are one of Houstons TOP ska
bands. Even though members have changed instraments and their bass player left, their
style and fun factor is ever improving (and when you get to this level that's hard to
do). Half Loaded is an eight member ska band
str8 from that H-town scene--Rice to be exact. Let it be known that we don't mess around
and we know where you live. If you haven't seen them yet "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!". Come check the here. |
| The
Housewife's Choice |
|
I never really knew
about The Housewife's Choice (yes, that is the name) until I saw their
tape in Sam Goody under the local bands. I really didn't know much
about them until I asked one of my close friends. They said that
the were one of the best bands in the business so I checked out the tunes.
I gotta admit they fucking rock!! Anyway I'll try to go to one of
their shows and write about it. The band states, "The Housewives
Choice is a ska band from Houston. Nobody has ever heard of us except
our friends and our parents. We originally started as Jimmy Spitz,
a shitty punk rock band. We played at some church and at some guys
party. We then evolved (not very much) into Tu Madre. That
lasted a month or two and once again we were Jimmy Spitz. Summer
was over, ska was in our hearts, sex was in our brains. We knew what
must be done. We bought a goat and formed The Housewives Choice."
Rumor has it that Housewive's Choice may have broken up. We will
continue to cary this write up on them for now. If you still want
to hear them I believe that Sam Goody still carries their tape. |
