The first time I
saw this band was when The Gops played the Wade Road Skate Park.
Of course Smart Aleck (R.I.P.) was supposed to play, but that very day
they broke up and were never heard from again. Who could have seen the success
that these guys would have from then? These guys are now concidered one of
the best bands in Texas!!! This 4 man and 1 woman band took
the stage with power. The closest style I can really compare them
to is So Cal (or Melodicore take your pick). I was really impressed
by the complexity of their music, the awesome fast driven beat, and some
well focused vocals. If you hear of a show go see it or everyone will make you
regret it!

Many people try
to define punk by looks-but these guys define punk by themselves.
Dig Dug is a great three-man punk band out of the Houston Metro area.
I saw them when they played with The Nimoys and Slapstick. They put
on a great show playing a style along the more modern lines of punk (hey,
it's cool!), but also addressed many punk issues such as: opresssion, anarchy,
and just having fun. The reason I state this is because most bands who sing about
this stuff do it just for the crowds and don't really understand opression. Dig Dug
not only sang about it, but had a passion for it. I know these guys have a 7" that you can buy
at Vinyl Edge. Yes, they are still around, but you gotta look really hard for
a concert by them. They should be back this summer. |

Inbred Whiteboy
has been lowering the property value of Houston for sometime now; aimlessly
playing about Houston (including gigs as a death metal Culture Club cover
band). Their quest for world domination has been sullied on a couple
of occasions due to the need to kick people that suck out of the IWB coalition
(Daren Belunek), until their savior Brady Hammond spread his teachings
of the Last Wish. Now the IWB force has returned with a vengeance,
a new line up, an incoherent, abusive, and generally mean-spirited music
video, and an album in the works. This band conciders themselves
to be the worst band in Houston, but I STRONGLY DISAGREE. They guys are
cool and I sometimes see them hanging out at Rembrant's. The got CD's,
Videos, and a whole lot of parties. They are da coolest. A good friend of mine describes
them as 'punk white trash'. See for yourself by going here. |
