so called band history
UPDATE!!!! may 1st 2001
not quite sure where the band Fuzzmonkey stands right now. we very (and i do mean very) loosely refer to ourselves as a band. we have all kinda split into 2 or maybe 3 different song writer groups. i dunno where dan is in this one. dan and myself have been workin on a funky little number working teh spine of the song witha program called fruity loops 3. i highly recommend this program if u are interested in fiddling with music programs.
anyway, Andrew and myself have a new band that i myself am the front man of. teh new band name is UNDERSTATE i duno if dan is gunna be a part of teh band or not. cos im almost sure that dave is more interested in being a solo musician. andrew has also rescently introduced a potential new member. so far we have one practically completely recorded song called wake. it was written for teh girl i was seeing at the time, whom i love very much...still. :P as soon as i figure out how to get mp3s on here these songs will be available. and if u already have them, i encourage u to share them on napster, or with other ppl u know. so far there are a couple of other songs in teh works... teh working titles so far are: Orange, Bottom Feeder, Peace by Piece. as well as a couple untitled works in progress. jamming has also became alot more convenient since andrew is now living on his own. thsi section will most likely not get any further updates as i will be slowly working on a site just for our band. hopefully that site will turn out alot better than this crappy one.
i believe teh story starts around fall '98 i think (dont quote me on it) original members of teh band: Richard, David (my couzin) and myself. we originally went under teh name Ricky Doily and the Experiments. we played simple songs that to most other ppl that didnt know us would prolly think were just stupid. yet we did it anyway. everything we recorded was a joke. well, almost everything. it was either a joke or so fucked up and screwed that ppl would prolly think we were on drugs. we werent. we wopuld record songs during our spares and lunch hours, with friday being teh "recording night" there is alot of content that i would personally like to recycle out of our old RDATE recordings, but songs like 'cockmaster buttpipe' will always be 'cockmaster buttpipe' no matter how catchy the music may be.
eventually our good friend daniel came into teh picture. during a break from university, he had officially beace a RDATE member; being a major influence with songs like: 'P.N.' and 'Little Bug on my Hand'
we had, after this point had a collection of about 15-20 some odd recordings. all mostly made up on teh spot, and with teh intent on being funny. we thought it was funny. we didnt give a shit if anyone else did.
at this time another good friend of ours; Andrew (daniel brother), was interested in becoming a member. the time was coming for us to get a drummer that had no clue on how to play drums, no did he have the drums to play on.
around this point we had a 6th member join our band. his name is Robert. we called him bob for short. bob was a flaming homosexual but we didnt care cos bob could keep a steady beat like a drum machine.
after some more recording sessions, with andrew doing some not to shabby vocals, we had given birth to teh songs 'Road Noggin' and ' Whats the Problem?' if you ever get a chance to hear teh only recording of whats teh problem? we ever did. i guarantee you will laugh your ass off... if you have a sense of humour that is.
'Whats teh problem?' was teh last recording we had done under the name Ricky Doily and the Experiments. teh RDATE songs never made it past teh crude demo forms they were in, despite the plans to have some multi track recordings made of teh songs. doing so would have produced a small profit for us as a band. as we had a very small fan base. and i stress teh word very. non teh less we did have one. and had approx. 30 copies called for in advance.
the band as we knew it, ended in tragedy May 23, 2000, when Richard "Doily" Dole, took his own life, after a night of excessive drinking and drug abuse.
Ricky Doiley and the Experiments were over.
Bob couldnt cope with teh loss, and still mourns for his lover Richard. he refused to be an active member of teh band. so Dave, Daniel, Andrew and myself reformed.
We had gone thru many temporary names. and have quite recently been refering to ourselves as fuzzmonkey.
this brings us pretty much up to speed. we are a bunch of rank amatures who cant seem to work on teh same wavelength about 90% of the time. i am confident that, with practice we will someday be a coherent band... rather than each of us going off in our own little world when we jam. tho each of us do have tallent, in a live setting, we need alot of practice.
as of this very moment i am writing this, jamming is proving to be more of a pain in the ass than anything else, due to a lack of discipline on all members, except most likely dave.
