Assessment
Evaluating your child's progress is an important element of the learning process. By careful ongoing assessment, individual needs can be met. There are many forms of assessment. Some that I will use this year are:
Academic
- Short Quizzes and Tests
- Weekly spelling and math tests
- Daily journal activities
- Writing Tests (every two weeks)
- Oral reading
- Responses to oral questions during lessons
- General Observation
- Hands-on manipulative exercises
- Portfolio/Work Folder Review
- Homework
- Class participation
Social Behavior
Ability to:
- stay in one's seat for longer periods of time.
- raise hand for permission to speak during lessons and to leave the room.
- wait while others share in discussions.
- cooperate with other students and teachers.
- share materials.
- clean up own materials.
- stand on line with respect for students in front, behind and next to oneself.
- follow directions given by teachers and other staff members.
- follow school and class rules.
- respect the rights and property of all students and staff at all times.
- practice good listening skills.
- practice good manners in the classroom, halls, and lunchroom.
- come to school everyday with notebook, homework, and supplies.
