After
a long wait, I have finally (started, labored through and) released
my fan transcription of Voices (acoustic version) from the sci-fi
anime movie Macross Plus. The original composition was created for
solo voice and piano accompaniment; thus, the score reflects that
instrumentation. You will note the version number "v0.11";
this implies an openness to improvement and changes. Still, apart
from missing lyrics, you may find this score to be at least 98%
accurate, and that's no idle boast... But if you were looking for
a piano-only arrangement, sorry - you'll have to do that yourself. (Unless you can give me a really good reason to do this, after three years of procrastination as of this edit!)
September
11, 2002 marks the first anniversary of the disaster that struck
New York City, involving airplane hijackings by terrorists, as well
as subsequent collisions with the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Most of the world suffered along with New York, and the pain will
not dissipate anytime soon.
I
did not originally plan to complete the transcription to coincide
with the anniversary, but Voices is a very touching piece of music
that never fails to move me. So why not share my tribute to it as
a fitting eulogy to the innocent victims of this incident and their
families? I should note that the victims do not only include those
firemen, policemen and civilians who perished in the buildings,
but also many innocent people of North American citizenship around
the continent who have suffered anonymous death threats and oppression
from stupid, jackass hooligans due to visible minority origins.
Ignorance breeds fear; fear leads to hate. Hate begets further hate
and is WRONG in all directions!
This
transcription score is dedicated not only "to all pioneers"
(referring to the Macross Plus movie), but to all those who seek
to bring humans together rather than forcing them apart. It is being
made available with no strings attached. If you want a copy of the original
Sibelius (SIB) data file, or perhaps an exported file in ETF format, contact me through this
page.
If
you find this noteworthy, please feel free to post some kind of
public notice, or heck, include it on your own site. If not, do
what you will. Thanks to Dr. Ru Igarashi for his enlightening insights. Thanks also to James Wong's Yoko Kanno Project for hosting the score files previously.
Long
live Yoko Kanno.
