My first encounter with hide chan!
I had never been to a concert in Japan before and
did not know a thing about cosplay and how such concerts are like. So I
guess you can imagine how many shocks I encountered that day!
I did not have a ticket and came to the hall around
noon and got my first shock... There were a few fans there already and
most of them looked like hide chan!!! I was very much surprised that they
dressed up like him, had never seen that before, had never heard anything
about it! Some of them were looking really good. It was a rainy day and
everyone had gathered under the small roof of the hall and I joined them
and they made big eyes to the strange foreigner who showed up there in
jeans and jacket and no make-up... I addressed them in my at that time
still broken Japanese and asked them whether they had a ticket left and
they shrugged their shoulders and looked at me as if I was E.T. in person
and didn't answer..
I sat down there with them and after a while they
seemed to accept that I was really intending to see hide chan's concert
and some of them addressed me and the usual questions came up, where I
am from and that my Japanese is so nice and since when I am hide chan fan
and so on. I told them I am fan for two months and they laughed and didn't
take me much serious... was quite frustrating! (laugh)... More and more
people arrived at the hall and the story I was looking for a ticket spread
and finally a girl came up to me and said she had a ticket left and would
sell it to me. I was very happy and bought a 2nd floor ticket from her
and she involved me in a little more serious talks and finally I found
someone who accepted me as a fan.
However the more people came the more comments I
heard like: "Hey gaijin san (foreigner) are you sure you are at the right
concert?" And I was getting a little angry. But then the girl who sold
me my first ticket came back with two Yoshiki fans in her wake and one
of the Yohsiki fans said something like: "I am Yoshiki fan and it's not
so important for me where I sit in this concert... I have a ticket for
the 8th row from the front and if you want we can change and I take your
2nd floor ticket!"
I couldn't believe it and of course I took that offer
and we exchanged tickets. Thanxxxxxx!!!!
Then we kept on talking and they told me about cosplay
and thinking of the strange comments about me having mistaken the concert
I decided to do cosplay next time myself so they would believe I am hide
chan fan!
Then we finally were allowed inside and I bought
some goods and attended my first hide chan concert!!!!
It was amazing! I had never thought Japanese people
were able to enjoy themselves like that! The noise level in the about 2000
people hall was incredible! Hide chan appeared as Oliver Hardy and all
the fans seemed to know that already except me, since Kitakyushu concert
was one of the last of the tour and they screamed like hell at hide chan,
then he appeared from under the mask and I finally understood what was
going on! (laugh)...
The concert was great, very noisy, very powerful...
I had never seen a concert like that before, I had never seen fans freaking
like that before and I had never seen someone so much beaming with energy
like hide chan... I did not understand a word of what he was saying during
the concert, it drowned in noise and I did not understand Japanese yet
well enough, I only understood a little much later from the Film the Psychommunity
video. What I remember best of all is what I have not seen! During Honey
Blade a dancer dressed in wedding dress came on stage and hide chan was
fooling around with her on the right hand side of the stage, since I was
on the right hand side of the hall I couldn't see a thing! And Honey Blade
is one of my favorites and the other fans who saw it were screaming like
hell and I was very disappointed that I was not able to see what hide chan
was doing with her! (laugh)
All in all it was the greatest concert I had ever
seen at that time and it made me real pure and only hide chan fan! (laugh)...
