Are The Black Crowes the Rolling Stones of the 21st century? Maybe yes maybe no. But this doesn't have an effect on the quaility of the music they're playing. They first hit the charts with the multiplatinium "Shake Your Money Maker" album and never slowered the improvement in their music. As you may have already heard, Marc Ford and Johnny Colt have officially left the
Black Crowes. Marc Ford officially left on August 7th, due to "musical differences". He
has supposedly already begun playing with a band called the Breakfast Heads. It was also
announced that Johnny Colt has officially left the Black Crowes, for reasons unstated.
Due to the major stir up, all fall tour dates have been cancelled. The Black Crowes have
announced that they're not breaking up, and will enter the studio late in November or
early December, to work on their new album. The album is expected to be released in
early 1998. At that time the Black Crowes will present the new members of the group,
who they have allegedly already acquired. Rumors have it that Sven Pipien, bassist for
Mary My Hope, is the replacement for Johnny Colt. They're are no rumors of
replacements for Marc Ford as of yet.
