PATIENCE, PATIENCE II

Meanwhile, back in the tank.

We've decided to return to the F2c batch and see if we can isolate and stabilize a strain of "cobra tiger multi blue"  guppies. We know the dad of this batch was a tiger multi quad. It will take several generations just to escape the influence of that beautiful devil. We know that the color blue is recessive to all other colors (if you didn't know this before, you know it now). If we can perform a series of sibling/sibling crosses, always using a blue male as the father, we might, just maybe, be able to create and stabilize this strain.

To refresh our memory, let's take a look at the gene pool present in the F2c.

Our plan is to mate this tiger multi blue with a sister. The first female selected produced these F3 males.

We still have leopard as well as canary yellow. AZ did not give us any females in this batch. (Cute AZ, real cute.) We reach back to the F2 and mate one of the blue guys with his mother to produce the F4 generation.

Here is the F4 generation.

Looks like a step backward, but we have lost the leopard trait. Going back to mom may not have been such a bad move after all. Oh, well, AZ did not give us a choice. We had to go back to mom to continue this specific strain. (Of course, we could have also produced another batch using the same parents again. But let's pretend for the sake of this demonstration of another variation of a back cross.)  This batch has females, so we again select a pair to produce the F5 generation.

Here are the males of the F5 generation.

Patience, patience…………. Again, select a pair, you know the drill.

Here are the males produced in the F6 generation.

I am running out of patience. Once again, select a pair, make them do the nasty and see what we get.

Here is what we got.

We've come this far, we might was well see what the F8 brings. Once again, all together now. Select a pair…………..

Here are three of the most beautiful blue guys known to exist in the entire world.

With trembling hand we once again select a pair. Hope springs eternal.

Here are the F9 males.

Bless their hearts. They are all tiger multi blues. See how easy this is! Nothing to it. All I can say is, it's about darn time!

Three generations later we have this wonderful batch of F12 males to gaze upon.

Several runs through TransWarp with a couple of randomly selected pairs from this batch prove that AZ and I consider this strain stabilized. Nothing to it. A piece of cake. Ain't this game fun?!

Here are the .fsh files saved in the creation and stabilization of the strain:

I wonder what would happen if we crossed a strain of cobras with a strain of tuxedos. Would it be possible to create another body type, possibly Cobra Tux? Let's see what we can create. On strain of "cobra tuxedo" coming up.
