Playstation 2
I think, (actually I know for a fact) that Sony is going to win the Console Wars hands down, they already have 15 million units world wide.  The best selling system before this was Playstation 1, and Sony sold more Platstation 2's in the 1st year then Playstation 1's in the 1st 3 years!  There are 5.1 million PS2's in America, 5.9 million in Japan, and 3.9 million in Europe.  Sony is producing 1.5 million new consoles a month, and that number is being raised to 2 million by year's end to keep up with demand!  Something else to think about this Holiday season, is that Playstation 2 has about 6 times the amount of games compared to X-box AND Gamecube, and also, the majority are Playstation exclusives!  Think about Metal Gear Solid 2, this is THE game to get, and it's only on PS2, also, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, (also only on PS2, but will come to other systems in a few months) How about Devil May Cry, the new Capcom action game?  Like to fly, then you should try Ace Combat 4, with the most photo realistic game environments ever!  If your into racing there is always Gran Turismo 3, another Playstation 2 exclusive!  The list goes on and on, go to a store and see for your self.
There isn't much to say about PS2, It has the best games coming out this holiday season, in some aspects it's not the most powerful system, but it is definitely not the weakest. It is sitting right in the middle, with just the right amount of everything.  It Supports DVD format,(4.7 GB) Unlike Game Cube (mini-disk 1.5 GB)  It can also play DVD's right out of the box, the ONLY Next Gen system that can say that.  The Online Plans for PS2 are already underway, and will launch this Christmas in Japan, and will follow here shortly after.  Sony just has their stuff together, if the console wars was an dance PS2 would be break-dancing on top of X Box and GameCube.
When you look at the other companies controllers, they are all awkward and misshapen, from another galaxy or something.  Ask any game player which is the best controller, and you'll always find that the Dual Shock 2 keeps popping up.  Sony built the best controller ever, why do you think that Nintendo keeps changing the design of the controller with each new system launch?  Sony didn't change a thing, all they did was add a rumble feature which is built-in, and all analog buttons, it is just the best controller ever!
All in all PS2 is the best system to own, it has got something for everyone, and it's so flexible that we'll be seeing some truly amazing things in the years to come...
