Promotions and the points system

Members gain points and promotions through fighting battles, win or loose.Promotions may also be awarded based on a commanding officers personal knowledge of an officer under command performance and recommendation by the Corps/Divisional Commanders. Those members who keep their Commanding Officer informed and stay active in the club will be on the fast track. Promotions will be primarily based on quality of play, leadership, and total points ,with a strong emphasis on quality of play and leadership.Other criteria for consideration of promotion are as follows:

1. Read and comply with club rules, respect superior officers.
2. Minimum agreement to participate in one sanctioned on-going game.
3. Obey orders given by their commanding Officer.

All members start at the lowest rank for their assigned army.

The Talonsoft games don't fairly represent these facts. They allow the player to stand on the field to the last man, if he so desires. The General in the past never had this option. If he made a big mess of it early, he rarely got the chance to clean it up later. The troops would have made this impossible.

Special Note: The Victory conditions listed below may often be hard to attain. A player who has reached these conditions may declare victory at any time as long as he does it at the end of a completed game turn. Or, if he and his opponent prefer, they may continue, but in the end the victory must be measured by the club's conditions.

Full Scale Battles

A Major victory can be declared when one side has lost at least 10,000 men, and the second side has lost 2.5 times more, regardless of the number of turns remaining. The loser's army has lost confidence in it's leadership and routed.

  1. or if his enemy has left the field or surrendered, or withdrawn from the contest for any other reason.
  2. or if the enemy army's commander is captured. (specifically Blucher, Kutuzov, Napoleon, or Wellington)

Minor victory. One side has lost at least 9,000 men and the other has lost at least 2 times as much. The loser has realized that he has been beaten, and must withdraw.

Small Battles

A Major victory can be declared when one side has lost at least 3,000 men, and the second side has lost 2.5 times more, regardless of the number of turns remaining. The loser's army has lost confidence in it's leadership and routed.

  1. or if his enemy has left the field or surrendered, or withdrawn from the contest for any other reason.
  2. or if the enemy's army commander is captured (specifically Blucher, Kutuzov, Napoleon, or Wellington)

Minor victory. One side has lost at least 2,000 men and the other has lost at least 2 times as much. The loser has realized that he has been beaten, and must withdraw.

Anything else is draw

  • Maj victory in full scale battle 30 points.
  • Maj in small battle 15 points.
  • Minor victory in full battle 20 points.
  • Minor victory in small battle 10 points
  • Draw in maj battle 10 points.
  • Draw in minor battle 5 points.

Note: A full battle would include all forces available, full map. A small battle would be one where only part of the field and part of the troops took part.

2. Additional bonus points can be won or lost by the CAPTURE of REGIMENTAL standards, artillery batteries, and Officers. A standard is considered the elimination of an entire REGIMENT from the game. It is the players responsibility to keep track and the opponent must agree with the number of standards and artillery captured.

  • a) inf. standards: 2pts each
  • b) cav. Standards: 3 pts
  • c) artillery batteries: 3 pts each
  • d) guard inf standards: 4 pts
  • e) quard artillery batteries: 6 pts
  • f) guard cav. stnadards: 6pts
  • g) Colonels Anonymous: 1 pt. each
  • h) Generals and Marshalls: 3 points each
  • i) Blucher, Kutuzov, Napoleon, or Wellington, instant major victory plus 100 pts.

3. Points = Victory Level + standards/artillery/leaders captured

Example: major victory +1 inf standard +2(1Gd) artillery batteries captured = 30+ 11 = 41 points.Note: no bonus points will be rewarded for artillery destroyed by ranged fire.
