"Atari Games puts a new spin on arcade racers with Vapor TRX

Developed by the same team who brought you such arcade classics as Paperboy, 720, and Cyberball, Blueshift Inc. and Atari Games have teamed up for Vapor TRX.
In this futuristic racer, players will pilot one of eight different vehicles through the four tracks included. Each of the ships has different values for top speed, handling, acceleration, and durability offering players the ability to select the ship that best suits their style and abilities.

Once the race gets under way there are 16 total racers with up to four players competing against each other through linked game cabinets. Scattered throughout each level are various power-ups and weapons such as cannon level-boosts, and homing missiles. Players start the game with only a weak positronic cannon, and then gather upgrades for faster firing rates and more powerful shots. There are also turbo pads along the ground for quick turbo boosts.

Skycycle racing can be fun. Just don't look down.

Each of the four tracks vary by difficulty and time of day. They include: Eagle Canyon, Midnight Bullet, Alpine Edge, and Breakneck Speedway, which is only available after completing the other three tracks. The levels are filled with twists, turns and shortcuts which add a lot of replay value to the overall game.

Control wise, players pilot their ships through the use of a custom steering wheel/flight yolk including acceleration triggers, and weapon buttons. The game also features speed breaks on all of the ships.

Set for release in early August, Vapor TRX should offer a fun and unique alternative to conventional racers. "
