There are eight different characters in Commandos. Each of them plays an important and dangerous role.Every character has different abilities and weapons. The only weapon that is used by all is the efficient Smith & Wesson W9.

You are able to walk, run or crawl. Fins can dive and row his colleagues over the water, O'Hara can climb and dig himself into snow and sand, the Driver can drive vehicles and use all types of weapons, Inferno knows how to use explosives and the Duke is the only one who can use the high precision rifle. But now to our Commandos:

He is of Irish descent and won all the Military boxchampionships between 1934 and 1937. In the year 1938 he was sentenced to 14 years forced labour, because he had a fight with an officer. He could stop as soon as he joined the Commandos. He was promoted to Sergeant after an attack on the Island Vaagso.  He didn't have any ammunition was cut off from his unit, but he managed to get into the bunker of the enemy and could kill sixteen soldiers.

He's a real nightmare for his Superiors and his enemies, he is brutal and has a big problem with discipline.

Weapons and equipment: Wilkinson-Battleknife, Smith & Wesson W9, pickaxe, Transistor Radio, shovel

driverhead.gif (13791 bytes)       Samuel "Brooklyn" a.k.a "The Driver":

He says his name is Sam and there's not much more known about him. After a long Gangster career in the states he comes over the Atlantic in 1937 and joins the British Army. While he worked with the State Department he met Paddy Maine, who recruited him for the Commandos. During an attack on the airport Tamet, together with the "Long Range Desert Group", he destroyed eight German fighterplanes with his machine gun. As the ammo was finished he drove into some full tanked airplanes and destroyed four more. He survived with severe burns.

He's happy most of the time, but he can be afraid too. He handles every weapon excellent. His manners aren't the best, and we'll probably never know his real name.

Weapons and equipment: Smith & Wesson W9, tanks etc., machine gun, first aid medical kit

marinehead.gif (11328 bytes)       James Blackwood a.k.a The Diver alias "Fins":

He's an Australian, born in Melbourne and brought up in Oxford. He's a shipbuilder and a great swimmer. He has three big talents: sailing, diving and drinking fluids that haven't got the slightest thing to do with water. He swam once over the Channel because of a bet. One year after he joined the Navy he became Captain. He was honored with the Military Cross for his heroic behavior, as he saved 45 prisoners in Dünkirchen with his boat.

"Fins" can't be replaced, his colleagues agree to that, when it comes to something wet. They say he could travel over the Atlantic in a shoebox, as long as there is enough to drink.

Weapons and equipment: Wilkinson-Battleknife, Smith & Wesson W9, boat, diving equipment, harpoon

sapperhead.gif (13494 bytes)           Thomas Hancock a.k.a The Sapper alias"Inferno" or "Torch":

Thomas was born in Liverpool, he has a degree in chemistry, became fireman at the age of 22 and was educated as a specialist in dangerous explosives in the military six years later. He joined the Commandos  in 1940. During the attack in St. Nazaire it was his explosives that cost  lots of German soldiers their lives and that weaked the Port for weeks. Inferno was token prisoner during this mission, he tried to flee four times in eight months and finally made it. He fled over the Pyrenees to Spain and returned from there to England.

"Torch" as he is called by his friends is always polite and respectful, but his courage is recklessness. His knowledge about explosives allows him to let everything explode into tiny pieces.

Weapons and equipment: Smith & Wesson W9, trap, time bomb, remotely detonated bomb, grenades, pliers

sniperhead.gif (13597 bytes)            Sir Francis T. Woolridge a.k.a The Sniper alias "The Duke":

He is a distinguished, cold-blooded chap. He comes of a rich and respected family from Sheffield. The Duke got  a Military Medal for shooting the commandant of German troops with one shoot from a distance of one mile during the Invasion in Narvik.

The Duke is an extraordinarily good Sniper, even in extremely sensitive situations.

Weapons and equipment: Smith & Wesson W9, high precision rifle, first aid medical kit

spyhead.gif (13726 bytes)        René Duchamp a.k.a The Spy alias "Frenchy":

Frenchy was born in Lyon and joined the French Secret Service at the age of 25. As the war broke out he went to the French Army. He was the Leader and founder of the Resistance. Thanks to him and his information's at least three trains, fourteen tanks and more than thirty other vehicles were destroyed.

Duchamp speaks French, English, German, Italian and Russian fluently. His capability to imitate voices and mimic is astounding. A real chameleon.

Weapons and equipment: Smith & Wesson W9, lethal injection, uniforms, first aid medical kit
