while, and then came
Duke Nukem 3D! It hit gamers right in the face with wonderful graphics, great design
, and just plain wonderful play. It was a major developement over the Doom series,
with true 3D (Doom wasn't a true 3D game, as no object was able to stay above another
. Bridges were impossible, tunnels underneath rooms, etc). Duke 3D makers really
thought hard about the design. They were very realistic, and I think that Duke3D
still has an edge over Quake, and even Quake 2. The Quake characters just aren't
realistic
enough, with very geomaetric bodies, if you understand. I just hope
Trinity and Quake 3 are an improvement. Duke 3D has great lighting, great underwater
scenes (which Doom couldn't give us), and a simple storyline that didn't need to
brush up the game. The better the game, the less important storyline it is. It
works the other way too. Game designers bring in a flashy story to make up for
terrible game.
This comes with new graphics and stuff,
and a really challanging level. Thats not the only one, theres Duke it Out in
DC, and a couple of other major ones.
Duke Nukem TTK (time to kill). I have no idea if these rumors are true,
or if the games are out, but I'm a bit behind on latest Duke news.
