Where do Colours Go?
Before you begin to start painting your army, you should pick a colour scheme. See sensible colour schemes for more about colour schemes. The best thing to do once you have a colour scheme, is to take a good look at each model before you start painting it. Decide which areas of the model are going to be each colour from you colour scheme, and then which areas are to be painted colours individual to that model or unit (such as pouches, guns etc.)

Painting
Once you've decided which areas to paint and what colours to paint them, now you can get down to actually painting them. Using your base colours you can begin to paint the different areas of your models. The best way to paint is to use thin paint. Put some paint on your palette and mix it with a little water (about 50:50 mix is ok). Using this consistency of paint instead of normal paint will give you a more even finish and will not appear cloggy and lumpy when dry. Try not to paint too thickly and be as neat as you can, remember, if you go wrong you can always go back and neaten it up.
