Blood.
Blood is very easy to paint effectively. First paint where you want the blood with Chestnut Ink. Once this is dry, paint the area with a couple of coats of Blood Red, leaving a very tiny bit of the Chestnut Ink around the edges. The Chestnut Ink will appear like the blood is drying and staining the area, even if you want fresh blood, paint the area with Gloss Varnish.

Where to Paint It.
Sometimes too much blood on a model ruins the effect of the model's appearance. Adding blood to a model whose background is not bloody and violent is also a bad idea. Areas such as the edges of weapons and mutilated body parts are the most common areas to paint blood.
