Some models such as Wood Elf Scouts and especially Orcs and Orks have Tattoos and other markings on their skin. This should be in a contrasting colour to the skin. The trick is to paint the Tattoo before painting the skin. This way the Tattoo will appear more solid and brighter (if you used a white undercoat). Common places for Tattoos are around eyes in triangular patterns, and around arms in chains or lines.
