Vampire Lord tells us all how he paints his Dark Angels. We will have some pictures of them up here soon, but for now he tells us how he paints them in his own silly and sometimes funny way. He may say some things that are offensive so don't take any offence! (not that its really offensive anyway!)
Ok, so you want me to tell you how to paint a Dark Angel?
Basecoat and Undercoat:
All right, first you need to under coat it. I use chaos black spray but paint would do the same job. Once your model is black, with a standard drush apply a coat of watered down dark angels green ( i use one third water to....well you can work out the math.)
Now to highlight a basic Dark Angel, use the watered down dark angels green and add a little goblin green. I do the large areas first eg. the arm pads and back pack. apply the green mix on the top edge of the arm pad and back pack to create the shine effect (so it looks like the light has highlighted it and not a big hairy man with a paint brush!) now you' ve highlighted the arm pad and back pack you can do more harder, fiddley bits (Stef put my sandwich down!) anyway, oh yes - like the helmet and arms. I suggest you use a detail or fine detail brush for this.
Now add a bit more goblin green and do the same. Repeat this process until you reach goblin green (with every shade of green paint the line thinner each time you highlight or it will look like a big mess!).
Fine Details:
The eyes: You must first have a steady hand and a good eye. Paint blood red onto the eyes and then add some fiery orange and paint the very corner of the eye. ( if they don't have a helmet on, don't paint the eyes red - der!).
Now for the bolter, paint the bolter's metal areas boltgun metal, and paint the casing blood red. Put a watered down layer of black ink over the metal areas and leave to dry. Highlight the bolter casing with fiery orange
Ok so you all can paint Dark Angels now so leave me alone because i'm hungry - doh! Stef ate my sandwich so i've got to get some more food. Oh yeah, and if you're that big fat hairy man - no offence!
