Stage 1
To begin with your gem should be painted black as an undercoat. If you undercoated the model white simply paint the area black.

Stage2
Begin adding the red by painting the lower half with watered down Scab Red. If you use the paint in the consistency of a wash you can give it a few more coats of scab red near the bottom to get the effect opposite.

Stage3
Continue with this process by highlighting the lower area with Red Gore and then Blood Red. Getting progressively closer to the bottom of the gem.

Stage4
As a final highlight right at the bottom of the gem paint a small amount of Fiery Orange.

|
Stage5
As a finishing touch, and to make it look as if it is shining, ad a very small dot of white paint in the top left corner (the darkest part of the gem).
