Debdemona
Chapter 1 The Garden
“"Where is she?"” Dimes asked
“"I dont know she said shed be here" replied Kyle straining his eyes to see into the garden.
The two reporters waited impatiently in front of the path leading into a over grown garden. A gust of wind passed them and swirled dirt at their feet. Then from the plants came the crackling of leaves, the men smiled knowing that there wait was over until a huge black panther with dark blue eyes emerged from the plants, at its side was a black house cat with a gold earring in one ear.
The men froze in fear, to scared to run, as the two
cats lazy walked closer to them , the cats eyes fixed a pone the two men. Then all of a
sudden the house cat fell to the ground and broke
out, laughing hysterically as rolled about .The panther sat down and looked at the black
cat as though puzzled by its laughter and then batted him with its huge paw .In a Instant
the Panther was replaced by a girl with long black hair and big deep blue eyes,
"Ummm... Debdemona.. your umm naked" the cat cackled as he grinned at the girl
The men stood there in disbelief of what was happening before their eyes.
"Ohhh ackk!!!" she shrieked and fell backwards tummbling into the huge leaves of the canna plants,"Ohh Gawd Im so embarrassed" her voice said coming from the plants she hid in.
"This just keeps getting better and better" the cat laughed on
"I heard that Zmi! Ill be right back stay right here" the leaves russled, the blue eyed panther leaped out and bounded down the trail.
The cat still laughed as the men sighed in relief.
Kyle smirked and muttered something about wizards
A few moments later the thick garden gave way to the girl once more as she came down the trail.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, I was already in a panther form and forgot to change back to greet you and when I shift forms I do it without cloths on because its to annoying to get out of the cloths as a animal but I had forgot in the excitement and shifted before you ,and before remembering I would'n't have cloths on" the girl said blushing.
She picked up the laughing cat
"Ok Zmi you can stop now it wasn't that funny" she said
"YES it was!" the cat chuckled
Trying to hold back a smile she stoked the cat
Kyle nudged Dimes
"You can let go of my arm now "Kyle said looking at Dimes,
Dimes still looked pale.
"This is Debdemona ,the one who i was talking about "
Debdemona took Dimes stiff hand to shake it,
"It's ok , I don't bite" she said smiling and with that his eyes blinked and seemed to come back into reality.
Zmi couldn't take it and busted out laughing again.
"Silly cat You'll have to forgive Zmi he lacks entertainment" she said,
Kyle peered at the cat
"Is he a familiar, a spell?" Kyle asked
The cat's laugh came to a halt
"Ok no need to insult me" said the cat and pounced from Debdemona's arms to Kyle's shoulder then to the ground
"I'm not a spell!" Zmi smirked and turns his back to Kyle shifting his tail and lifting his head to the air.
Debdemona giggled No Zmi's not a spell..well..Um... actually he's not even really a cat,!
She placed her finger on her chin tapping it while looking at Zmi and smiled "he just looks like what you know as a cat he's a shifter in a cat form but he's not even of this world.Its like when I went to this one planet and they called me a vulcan" she shrugged.
Lets go inside where its cooler she said then smiled
They wandered back inside the Garden from where Debdemona and her companion came from. The garden seemed to close around them exotic Canna's ,giant white birds of paradise met them. Tiny fairies ducked under leaves and giggled at two men that walked with Debdemona.
Kyle gazed at Debdemona studying her, The darkness of her garden gave away her powers that she concealed, as A faint silvery blue aura surrounded her , slight wind unnaturally tosses her long black hair as though playing with it, what light peers threw the garden seems to highlight her hair in shades of blue hues
She could pass for a human he thought to himself ,if not for her slight tip on her ears which told of her mixed elven bloodlines.
"OO Wow look!" Dimes smiled apone one of the little fairies as he looked in awe of her.
Suddenly a small wood sprite popped out of a trunk of a old tree and saw Dimes staring at the fairy , as the sprite began conjuring the words of magic pointing his little finger at Dimes,
Debdemona heard the gestures and spun around to see the sprite, her eyes following the spites finger pointing to Dimes. The silver flakes in Debdemona's eyes swirled and pulled to the center of her eyes
"NOOOOO!" she shouted
She lifted her hand, palms out toward Dimes and a deep blue aura engulfed him just as the spites spell hit him, he held up his arms to shield his eyes from the brightness of the sprites spell.
"Ahhh!!" Dimes yelled Am I ok? Am I ok? He patted himself as if to see if he was still all there then jumped behind Kyle
Kyle's eyes bulge out in disbelief of what had just happened
Chattering rose from the whole garden as if it cam alive.
Debdemona stood there with her hands on her hips squinting at the sprite while Zmi hissed at it.
Fairies flocked from everywhere to see what was the up rage they circled Debdemona and her company touching them. Then seemed to focus on the sprite and darted toward him. The chattering grew louder as the fairies seemed to be scolding the sprite for its actions. The Spite looked up at Debdemona and grinned widely ,then winked at Dimes and disappeared into the trunk of the tree from which it came. A gust of wind blew passed and the fairies circled and spread out back into the garden, one stopping long enough to kiss Dimes on his nose giggled and soared into a the air.
Debdemona clasped the two men's hands in hers. "You'll be ok now she smiled at them. lets be on our way
The sprite is new here, he only thought he was protecting the fairy. He thought you where going to hurt her. The sprite has taking a love for that little fairy."
"A spite In love with a fairy? "Kyle said disgustly
Debdemona turned to meet Kyle's eyes she looked at him annoyed
"Love does not turn it's back to difference in races" she pulls back her behind her ears
Kyle remembering Debdemona's mixed bloodlines closed his eyes briefly thinking of his stupidity for what he had just said.
They came to a clearing in the center of the path there was a stone bench supported by Gargoyles on both sides and a fence that blocked the edge of the cliff looking over a river.
I want to thank you for what you did back there Dimes smiled at Debdemona
"Most welcome anytime" and gave Dimes at hug
Dimes jaw dropped
"Wow this is beautiful!" Dimes said looking about in amazement as he walked over and leaned on the old fence looking down over the cliff.
Now what is it I can help you with? asked Debdemona
Please sit she said pointing to the stone bench
She sat down in a smoky amber boulder that had been carved out in front of them
Kyle sat down a pone the bench “"Well to begin with Dimes and I are doing a story about about Myths that surround families, and your family was sub jested "“
Debdemona laughed and looked at him in amazement" Myths?" She said in questioning voice.
Then cracking sound come from the old fence that Dimes was still leaning on ,Debdemona and Kyle turned their heads in Dimes direction just in time to see Zmi had just started to leap onto the fence where Dimes was , Zmi twisted his body in the air to try and avoid the fence,Zimi's eyes catching Debdemona's expressing he knew it was too late.
"No ZMI! ,Dimes back off the fence " her voice rose alarmingly. Too late Zmi's added weight made the fence give way sending both Zmi and Dimes toppling over the cliffs face
"ZMI!" She yelled as she rushed to the cliffs edged holding her hands out she shouted phases of magic .A portal ripped threw the air below Zmi and Dimes
“"MOVE OVER!"” Debdemona shouted and pushed Kyle out of the way, just as another portal opened above them dropping Zmi into Debdemona's arms and Dimes plopping to the ground at Kyle's feet And groaned
"Ooo nice catch" Zimi smiled brightly at Debdemona
Debdemona raised her eyebrow at Zmi
"You ok?" Debdemona looking at Dimes concernedly
"Thank you again" he groaned as He looked up in a daze at Debdemona “"How is it do you Do that?" Dimes asked
"A lot of training" she said taking a deep breath
"Alrighty Boys Were going to my cottage before Dimes runs out of luck", She kisses Zmi's head and placed him up on her shoulders
Kyle pulled Dimes to his Feet dusting him off best he could
Debdemona took their hands and lead the way further into to the garden
."Silly you could have been killed"she said rubbing her face against the cats face
"Well if it wasn't for Tubby", Zimi looked over at Dimes
"Hey! you were the one that sent us over the edge"Dimes groaned back
"Now ,Now Boys no fighting, besides were here" she said smiling.
The woods opened up once more to a Cottage, they entered the doorway and followed her inside to a large room like a museum filled with oddities, books, and family portraits.
"Excuse me just a second, Ill be right back go ahead and sit down and make yourselves comfortable" she sat Zmi on the rug and went threw the hallway.
The men sat into the plush pillows of the couch, paintings on the walls seemed to be staring at them. She returned with a tray of raspberry tea
"Thirsty?" She sat the tray apone the low table before them and then sank into a over fluffed chair
“"Awwe much better don't you think?"she said” Zmi leaped into her lap
“"Much" Zmi replied the others agreed drinking their tea relaxing into the couch
"My co-worker and I have been doing Folklore that surrounds a few families that live here and someone told us about you Kyle said smiling at her.
She nodded and replyed "That's what you had said before Dimes tried to fly",
Zmi chuckled
Dimes looked over at the cat who was grinning
Clearing his throat Dimes took out a pen and note pad from in his coat "I just want your story, for some reason I don't think there are any myths. I think the stories we heard are True!"Dimes said with exciement
"My story?" She said thoughtfully “"Wow that's a lot"”
"Yes ,I want to know about your parents, family Zmi and you" Dimes said smiling at her and by the way Thank You ,You know you saved my life twice in one day. I really don't know how I can repay you. Ive never had so much bad luck , but then again placing his hand on his chin looking at Zmi the black cat
"You might save mine one day "she said smiling at him, then turned to look out of the window as though deep in thought "You sure you have enough time for it all" she asked looking back over her shoulder at the men and laughed
"We have all day" Kyle tells her
Ok ..Geeze where to start she thought then, She bit her bottom lip
Debdemona took a bottle from off the table in front of her and poured some purplish ash into her palm with a few words she blew it into the air a mist appears as her memory runs back threw time ,from words spoken from her parents and theirs passed from one generation to another.
