Protoss Mission Strategies

Mission 3 - Higher Ground
Destroy the Zerg that is your mission brief, although it is much easier said than done. The Zerg Hive Cluster is big and their forces numerous, that coupled with the fact that there are two broods to be fought and you suddenly realise that this is going to be a very difficult mission.

Get your running total of Probes to 15, warp in an Assimilator, Gateway, Forge and Cybernetics Core. After your base has been attacked by a group of six red Zerglings move your four Zealots left, toward the far edge of the map, away from your base. Here you should encounter several Zerglings, the Zealots will be able to kill the Zerglings, once they have move a Drone forward and build a Nexus and a small base with a refinery and surrounded by Photon Cannons. This should afford a little protection whilst you mine the resources. Have a force of six Zealots and six Dragoons at the top right of your first base, and leave a force similar proportions within your base. Now begin upgrading at both the Forge and the Cybernetics Core and warp in a Stargate and a Citadel of Adun. AT the Citadel of Adun you can increase your Zealots speed, do this and once all your upgrades are ready build an attacking force and prepare to take down the Zerg Hive Cluster situated above your base. Build another Gateway as Protoss troops take a long time to build, warp in five Scouts, 12 Zealots and 12 Dragoons. This will be your first attack force, with the Zealots and Dragoons you will attack the main gate: whilst your Scouts will provide support where needed, be sure to keep your Scouts away from the Zerg Scourges unless you are confident of being able to shoot them down before they can reach you. When you have taken the white Zerg Hive Cluster bring a Probe to it and build another Nexus and an Assimilator and take advantage of the available resources. Now leave your Dragoons and Zealots in place to protect the Probes and begin to build your second attack force.

There are three ways for the red Zerg to leave their Hive Cluster, through either of the two ramps or via a transporting Overlord, use your Scouts to patrol the lower edge of the Zerg Hive Cluster this will prevent any Overlords escaping. Place 12 Dragoons on each of the ramps, you can find them easily enough by skirting the edge of the Hive Cluster, bring forward 12 more Zealots for each ramp as well. Now simply move your troops into the Hive Cluster, use the Zealots to take out the defences and the Dragoons as support, bring in your Scouts to hunt down the Overlords and move you troops through the base. The forces you have will overwhelm the Zerg and victory again is yours.
