    Mission 6 - Norad II
The cold hearted General Duke has crash-landed, it is your job to protect his ship whilst trying to get Raynor and two Dropships to the crash site. You have to move your men to the Confederate base so that you can take control of it, from your starting position you can see how close you are, but be warned, there are Zerg hidden between you and the base:

Once you have claimed the base you're the force protecting the Norad II will come under heavy attack from the Zerg, quickly get your men into the bunkers and focus your Goliaths on the Hydralisks and Zerglings. Keep tight hold of your Goliaths as they are likely to wander off up the ramp and attack the Zerg, this will get them killed and lose you some valuable firepower.

This is how you want your defences to look, get those SCVs repairing the bunkers as soon as possible, whilst your other SCVs start mining minerals. In this mission you will need a refinery as soon as possible as vespene gas is needed to repair your units and you will need a lot of it for those Goliaths and bunkers.

Get your SCVs up to ten as soon as you can, get four mining gas and six mining minerals, this should be enough to start with. You will also need to build enough marines to fill all the bunkers around your base camp.

Once you have your base set up like this you will need three more bunkers and enough men to fill them, three more missile turrets and academy and engineering bay. If you set these things up in this order and in the way shown below you should have no problems fending off the occasional Zerg attack.

Upgrade your guns at the academy and upgrade your weapons and armour at the engineering bay as soon as possible. This will give you a vital edge against the Zerg. Keep checking on your General Duke, keep the troops there well repaired and when you get a moment repair the Norad II.

Build four missile turrets around the Norad II, this should keep the flying Zerg well away and it gives you a greater range of vision.

Resources are as ever at a premium, your vespene gas and minerals will not last very long and as you can see there are both gas and minerals available from just above you.

So you need to take a squad of 12 men up there to clear away the small Zerg encampment at the top, this consists of: two Mutalisks; a spore colony; a sunken colony and several assorted Hydralisks and Zerglings that are holed up on the plateau, 12 men should have no problem. Now build two more SCVs, send them up to where the resources are and set up a base like this, with the bunker filled with Marines.

If you move up the screen you will find a ramp moving downwards, here build three bunkers and three missile turrets as shown:

This will stop any Zerg attacks from that direction, giving you plenty of room to begin expanding your base, try to keep a few missile turrets along the edge of the plateau, this will protect your building from Mutalisk attacks. Now you will need to build a factory, a starport and an armoury, build another four supply depots, this should bring your running total up to 14.

Now that you have and armoury you can build Goliaths, build about ten of these powerful mechs and also build 2 Dropships, 6 Wraiths and another 20 Marines. You will also find that at the armoury you can upgrade lots of stuff, upgrade away, get everything to the max before beginning your assault.

Amass your Wraiths just above your second base, and your Goliaths to the right and slightly above your first base. The men should be taken up to the ramp where you have the bunkers and missile turrets.

Make the Marines squads one and two, make the Wraiths squad 3 and the Goliaths squad 4. Using one squad of marines at a time, move into the Zerg base and shoot anything within range, if you encounter any significant resistance move your troops back to where they stared, the Zerg should follow and get caught between your bunkers. Do this until your attacking squad is no more and then build another ten Marines to replace them. Now at the bottom of your second base you have a bunker, empty this of Marines and move them directly to the right, from the top of the ridge you should be able to quite easily shoot the spore colony placed there. Once you've done this move your Marines back to the bunker.

Now using your Wraiths move down to where the spore colony was, there should be an evolution chamber waiting to be shot, Hydralisks and Mutalisks will appear to try and kill you so do as much damage as you can to them and then return for repairs. In this way you should be able to inflict a lot of damage on that area for very little risk to yourself. Keep hitting that area until you have cleared it of Zerg like this:

The big hole on the left is the remains of the spore colony so you can see just how much damage you can do if you take your time. Now move your two squads of Marines down clearing the upper area of the base. Once you have cleared the top of the base move your Marines down whilst moving your Goliaths up, take your Marines to the left and you Goliaths to the right, this way both forces can concentrate upon one of the sunken colonies each. Moving the Goliaths slowly up along the base of the cliff will allow the Goliaths to take out the spore colonies waiting there, clearing some air space for your Wraiths.

Move your Marines back up to the top of where the Zerg base was whilst your Goliaths are clearing the spore colonies. There is a ramp where you want your Marines to go, have one squad of Marines guard this whilst the other group moves to block the pass, make sure both groups are well set up and put on hold position, like this:

Now bring your Wraiths over to the right of your Marines, bring them across slowly and destroy the sunken colonies you can see, be careful not to go too far down as there are several spore colonies, these are the final barrier between you and victory. There will be two sunken colonies, so once you have destroyed them move across to the right and shoot the Mutalisk there whilst destroying any Overlords that come over for a quick look.

You will see a ramp, it is up this ramp that you want to bring your Goliaths, be sure to bring an SCV with them to repair any damage. Move your Goliaths up the ramp to where the sunken colonies were. Move your Marines that are blocking the pass up with your Goliaths, you want to move your Marines down the left side and the Goliaths down the right, clearing everything as you go. Move the Goliaths to the ramp that leads to the Norad II whilst moving the Marines continually down the left, you will find that if you shoot sunken colonies first your Marines will pretty much clear the whole area. Now put Raynor into one of the Dropships and move both Dropships to the beacon. Drop Raynor on the beacon and the mission will be victorious.
