I guess this is pretty crucial for those who are playing 3D games and are wondering what it meant by software mode or hardware mode. Since I am doing a School Project on it why not put it up here so that you will know more about what 3D cards can do to your Gaming Experiences. I am presently using Creative's Graphic Blaster Exxtreme with 4MB of SGRAM using 'Permedia 2' chip. For a average user, it is very good. Definitely a 3Dfx's Voodoo/Voodoo 2 chip-based board is the best.
If you have a 3D card and wonder what it can do, I suggest playing Tombraider 2 and you will know. Switch on and off the certain functions at Setup, Like Z-buffers, Bilinear filtration, triple buffer, Perspective Correction... This is what the differences.
These pictures are taken on 16-bit true color point of view cos running it on 32-bit high color gives me lots of prom. Probably not enough RAMs therefore, get a board with 8MB SGRAM.
