Finally the demo is out!!! I personally don't think this marks the last Tomb raider series however its name definitely has something to do with "The end". Anyway, the demo features great hardware acceleration and awesome graphics. Here is what you can expect:

Bilinear Filtration.

This Technique has been introduced since TR 2 (has been implemented on TR 1 for 3Dfx users only using glide)  Check out this page for more screenshots I did in the past  that shows the differences with Bilinear filtration on and with Perspective correction on.  Click here. or go to Home.

BUMP-MAPPING.

As you can see from the left screenshot, it looks fine actually, the typical Direct3D version of TR3 but look over to the right screenshot taken with the new feature checked. Can you see the difference???
Look closely to the tiles where Lara is standing, the tiles on the left is very plain and dull whereas the tiles on the right is more detailed. Look over to the walls at the background, same textures but different detail on them.

As for these screenshots,  the answer is more obvious, check out the sand where Lara is standing on. The one on the right has more details on the amount of sands than the left screenshot. The pillars in the background is also different.

These Screenshots are taken on my 3DNow! And Voodoo3 3000 system. Yes, you don't have to get expensive AGP cards like GeForce 256 and G400 to get such awesome graphics. As for now, 16-bit colors is still the way to go but for all you 32 bit graphic thirsty monsters (I am one of them cause I have seen the difference on TR2 & 3 on 16 and 32 bit colors, are quite refreshing) Matrox's G400 should be cool enough as nobody does Bump mapping better than them (EMBM) but maybe the framerates is not as good tough. Check out next week for detail of the gameplay.
