AJvsCP.jpg (31372 bytes)
Chris Pooley (left) with Huns against Andrew Jackson and Nikephorian Byzantine. Both playing in their first tournament.
AJvsCP2.jpg (45639 bytes)
Hunnic LH(S) skirmishing in vain against Byzantine Skoutatoi Bw(X). The Byzantines deployed and manoeuvred aggressively winning this bout 10-0.
AWvsJM.jpg (32084 bytes)
Andrew Walliker (left) using Marian Romans in his first tournament against John Metcalf and Seleucids.
AWvsJM2.jpg (45282 bytes)
The Seleucid phalanx is pinned by skirmishers and Roman light horse (foreground) are turning their flank. Despite this, Seleucid cavalry swept away the Roman flanks to win the battle 10-0.
BMvsAS.jpg (30575 bytes)
Brad Del Munns with Later Acheamenid Persian historically paired against Andrew Silk with Alexandrian Macedonian.
BMvsAS2.jpg (50715 bytes)
We all thought Brad was quite brave to run an entire command of Cv(I) with his Persian (left foreground). I think he probably agreed. Persians got their revenge here with Alex going down 1-9.
DHvsCP.jpg (39457 bytes)
Chris Pooley with his barbarous Huns against Darryl Hills using  Suevi (Early Frankish). Dazzler is looking a little unimpressed and unprepared as Chris brings on a flank march.
DHvsCP2.jpg (50121 bytes)
Darryl's Wb(S) taking refuge on a hill while skirmishing Hunnic light horse pin down the rest of his army. Hunnic flank march appears in top right corner. Huns win 9-1.
DMvsMW.jpg (42583 bytes)
Doug Melville (left) with Marian Romans, drew a tough opponent first round, Marcus Watson using Ch'in.
DMvsMW2.jpg (48019 bytes)
A close up of Doug's battle line with legionaries supported by a lone elephant, presumably to deter "Kn" opponents.
GHvsDS.jpg (34661 bytes)
David Smith from country Victoria with Patrician Romans against Glenn Harvey with late Imperial Romans.
GHvsDS2.jpg (50522 bytes)
I would safely guess the LIR Auxilia in the foreground are about to get run down by Patrician Foederati Kn(F). Glenn Harvey lost this game 3-7 but not without inflicting heavy losses on his opponent.
CWvsMW.jpg (42152 bytes)
The Watson & Watson duel. Both top favourites for the tournament, they fought each other to an indecisive 6-4 draw. Charles (left) with Han and Marcus (right) with Ch'in.
CWvsMW2.jpg (45749 bytes)
The Han Chinese (deployed right) are about to wipe out the Ch'in left flank in the top left corner. The remainder of the battle was fought out indecisively over the hill in the foreground.
JWvsJL.jpg (33991 bytes)
Clash of the Horse armies; John Wouters (left) using Uighur against Jared Lynn's Sassanids.
JWvsJL2.jpg (39637 bytes)
A group of Uighur Cv(O) deciding whether to engage a Sassanid line of combined elephants and auxlia. The game ended in an indecisive 6-4 result.
LDvsGJ.jpg (32192 bytes)
Lyle Daymond looks on as his camp is stormed by Han Chinese cavalry commanded by Gavin Jenkinson
LDvsGJ2.jpg (47116 bytes)
As close up of Gavin Jenkinson's Han Chinese facing off against Keith Gillies Persian Sparabara in the background.
MMvsRJ.jpg (33408 bytes)
Rob Jackson debuting his Later Carthaginians against Martin Morgan and his Gauls.
MMvsRJ2.jpg (47160 bytes)
Martin's Gallic hordes staring across no-man's land to the Carthaginian battle line of auxilia and cavalry. Despite getting good matchups, Rob was caught out by a Gallic flank march of Spanish allies.
MRvsPB1.jpg (38486 bytes)
Paul Bertram (left) using Late Imperial Romans against Mark Robin's Middle Imperial Romans.
MRvsPB2.jpg (47199 bytes)
Middle & Late Roman battle lines about to clash. In the foreground, Paul's Wb(S) pair off against Gothic Kn(F).
PDvsGH2.jpg (33492 bytes)
West meets West. Late Imperial Roman armies of Peter D'Costa & Glenn Harvey prepare for battle.
PDvsGH3.jpg (47566 bytes)
Battle lines don't get any neater than this. Peter's Romans stare across at Glenn's Romans.

JWvsDU2.jpg (51505 bytes)
An excellent shot of crooked battlelines with Parthians (left) under Jason Williams, and Graeco Bactrians commanded by Django Upton. The Bactrians appear to have "kinked" their lines in preparation for the Kn(X) charging in.
PSvsRS.jpg (32955 bytes)
Peter Stone (left) using Early Cathaginian against Richard Stubbs with Polybian Roman. An extremely close battle which ended 10-0 in Peter's favour catapulting him into first place going into round 4.
