In this section, you will able to find (almost) all the side quests in the game. Enjoy!

Tag!

Location: Cherik
Rewards: Melange Gel, Miracle Gel, Efreet (a must have!)

Ahh...the traditional children's game. I know it's fun, but playing 'chasing' right in the middle of a sea-side desert town just isn't my idea....Anyway, talk to é kids around the well and they'll challenge you to a game of Tag! That is, WITH THREE PEOPLE AFTER YOU and you can ONLY RUN AROUND THE MAIN TOWN AREA!!! Now that isn't so bad....it's just that THE TOWN AREA IS SMALLER THAN THE PORT ITSELF!!!

How do I win? Simple....try running around the well in anti-clockwise direction and you should have...ahem....less problems. But don't run too fast because you end up chasing the kids instead! Take it slow and steady and you'll have no problem. Watch out for the golden hair boy who wanders around slowly...cos if you're not careful......BAM! You'll ram into him instead of him catching up with you!

Once you've been tagged, the kid will award you with gald according to how long you've lasted in the game without being tagged. For example: if you managed to survive for 5 seconds (pathetic), you'll get 5 gald. But if you last long enough, you can get the gald along with some extra prize! The longer, the better!

Seconds Prize
0 - 19 Just gald
20 - 49 Melange Gel
50 - 99 Miracle Gel
100 & more Efreet Ring

Once you get the Efreet ring, those losers will quit and you won't be able to play tag any more, so stock up on whatever you want first before going for Efreet. The Efreet is a strong Summon and can only be used once. I recommend you to save it for later.

Racing in Neuestadt 1

Location: Neuestadt (duh!)
Rewards: Sage, Magical Rouge, Thief's Cape

Whaddaya know? Another kiddy game....^_^(). But don't under estimate this one....The bloody Mach Boy is good. Head to the Softy Cream shop at the upper-right of town. (Btw, I count anyone who buys from the shop a softee..) Talk to the bunch of kids to start the race. Don't worry about getting false starts, you'll just start all over again. This is how one should practice on his/her timing.

What you have to do is to race the kid, beat him and get your prize. And of course, don't stray off the course. Well, I think the walkthrough provides the best answers so refer to it for more info.

"The kid runs out on the outside, and running on the inside will give you the edge you need to pass him (since you both run at the same speed). That means you should stick to the bottom across the first bridge and behind the first house. When you get to the underpass, run on the bottom side as well. By the time you reach the main street, you should be ahead of the kid. Now move into the top side of the street, so that you're directly in front of the kid. As soon as you reach the central plaza, turn north and run up the stairs. The kid will get a huge speed boost here that you can't match, but if you're standing directly ahead of him, he won't be able to pass you. Then quickly touch the finish line and turn around for the second lap."

And the Prizes are.....
1. Sage: Raises 1 chracter's max HP by 5%. I recommend you to dip it in some Rune water before consuming it....
2. Magical Rouge:
Discount coupon, 10% off at any stores. Once only!
3. Thief's Cape:
Defense plus 3, Lowers ecounter rates.

After you've got all the 3 prizes, Stahn will be known as Mach Speed Boy (whooopppeeee!!!). But! You cannot race anymore. That is, until the end of the game....heh heh.....

Racing in Neuestadt 2

Location: Neuestadt (and again, duh!)
Rewards: Elixir, Gnome (must have!), Charm Bottle

After you've kicked Lydon's butt and after the disapperance of the Eye of Atamoni (again), you can challenge The ex-Mach Boy at Neuestadt to retain your title. The prizes have improved and the kid is now a little grown up and tougher. I recommend you to follow the walkthrough again....^_^()

"It's pretty much the same as before, except for one change: when you're heading down the second set of stairs (after the first house), Mach Boy will get an extra speed boost, just like he does near the end of a lap. To combat this speed boost, you need to quickly get ahead of Mach Boy at the start of the race and stay directly in front of him. As long as you're blocking him like this, he can't pass you (he's too stupid to run around you ^_^). It's actually possible to not block MB on his first speed burst, but catch up to him on the rest of the lap and still win."

And the IMPROVED Prizes are.....
1. Elixir: Restore all your stats to normal (duh!)
2. Gnome:
Another summon! Oh Yeah! I love it! Earth damage! GO Gnome!
3. Charm Bottle:
The great ToD sale is now on! 30% discount on all items!

After you've got all the 3 prizes, Stahn will reclaim his Mach Speed Boy (and again, whooopppeeee!!!). But! You cannot race anymore. That is, if you restart the game.....heh heh

Najasee's Game

Location: Moreau
Rewards: Elixir

Najasee, one of the 3 stupid walking talking cats that had returned from his journey. You know the rules but you can't win the game? Fine, I'll help...

1. Remember these magic numbers.
2. 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 28
3. Whatever you do, make any of these numbers out during your turn.
4. As long as Najasee ends up with a Magic No. every turn,
5. YOU WILL ALWAYS WIN!!!

Once you beat him, he'll give you an Elixir and never challenge you again.

Gambling is Fun!

Location: Neuestadt
Rewards: M. Symbol

OK guys and gals, close your door and make sure your Mom and Dad are asleep, cos' tonight, we're going GAMBLING!!

Sometime near the end of the game, you can challenge a guy in the inn in Neuestadt to a game of something similar to blackjack, all for a small, small price of 100 gald...^_^().
I suppose all of you have secretly gambled enough in school know the way to play blackjack right? For those of you who are ever-so-innocent, you need exactly 21 points to win the game. Each card has a value for it and it also depends on your luck on wheather you get the card you want or not. Not to further complicate matters, here's the solution...

1. Select 'Ocean' card from your first pick (8 pts)
2. Next is 'Stars' (9 pts)
3. And the last, 'Bird' (2 pts)
4. Don't draw a 4th card
5. Voila! 21 pts!

And the Prize:

The guy gives you a Mystic Symbol after you have beat him and you can't play again. (why is every side quest like this..-_-?)

é Cat & é Ring

Location: Neuestadt (yet again...)
Rewards: Emerald ring

This one's easy. Just follow these steps closely...

1. Have Chelsea in your party
2. Head to Neuestadt docks
3. Buy 2 Bonito Flakes (they are fish food)
4. Look for a cat which is wandering around
5. Talk to it and Chelsea will suggest giving it some food
6. Let it deavour (heh, heh) your Bonitos
7. Follow the cat to some crates
8. Search them and you'll find an Emerald Ring

The Emerald ring allows you to cast spells with less TP cost, which makes it easier for spell-casters. But be forewarned, feed it with the wrong fish and you'll not get the ring. Make you sure you do it right the first time..

Cycling on é Overworld

Location: Armeida (finally somewhere different...)
Rewards: Tricycle

After the Aeth'ersphere has formed but before Armeida is attacked, check back to the town. You should be able to find a once-sleeping-but-now-awake woman in one of the houses. Talk to her and she will give you 500 lens. Whatever you do, DON'T TRADE AWAY THESE LENS!!!

Next, head over to Darilsheid and go to the Lens Exchange Shop there. On the top-right hand corner of the shop, you'll find a boy who was suppose to exchange some Lens for gald but he forgot to bring the Lens along. Well, it turned out that the Lens you took by accident from the old lady actually belongs to him.

Talk to him, hand him the Lens and he'll give you his tricycle.

The tricycle ahould be equipped as an accessory. When you enter the world map with it, you'll be riding on it. The adventage about this vehicle is that you need not fight any battles. The down point is that you movement is really SLOW!! Personally, I think you should use your own 2 feet and fight to train yourself up instead of using the 3-wheels.

Blue Dragon Gourmet

Location: Liena
Rewards: Blue Dragon disc

At Cloudius, after you have defeated Baruk, search his chair to have a half-hidden chest. Open it to find an Egg. Most people get stuck at this point, cos' they don't know what to do with it.

First you have to bring it to Stahn's home and hand it over to Lilith. She'll have Hoppy to incubate it until it hatches. Instead of coming back once in a while to check on the egg, try going in and out of the house until it hatches. When it does, it'll turn out to be a Blue Dragon, which goes flying around the village immediately.

Talk to Gourmet the Blue Dragon (baka name...) and he'll say he wants gourmet food, and to obtain the Blue Dragon disc, you must cater to his needs...-_-(). And don't think that's easy. You'll have to take different ingredients to the 4 of the world's best cooks to make the 4 different gourmet. (The following info is from the walk-thru)

Queen's Delight
Location: Left tower of Darilsheid castle
Ingredients: Acerola, Apple, Bananas, Grape, Jam, Lemon, Strawberry, Sweetee

Beast Meat Supreme
Location: Cyril, lower left. Mary's house
Ingredients: Beast Meat, Cheese, Bread, Efreet(!)

Sea's Bounty
Location: Sheeden mansion
Ingredients: Any 12 fish

Spicy Prawns
Location: Cherik, Baruk's office
Ingredients: Prawns, Crab Soup

With all the gourmets ready, bring them all back to Liena and feed them to the Blue Dragon(!) In return, he gives you the Blue Dragon Disc. It increases your status and lets you cast Blue Dragon (fire).

Namco Quiz

Location: Armeida
Rewards: Sacred Text 2, Channeling Ring

After you are done with the Belcrant, head back to Armeida and you'll find 2 rather familiar people from Tales of Phantasia....that's right.....it's CRESS AND ARCHE!!! Talk to them and you will be given 50 questions to answer. You have to answer each question in 4 seconds. Basically, it's a set of questions on Namco and some of it's games.....

Bruiser Kung!!

Location: Neuestadt (back again..)
Rewards: Bruiser...^_^()

After you've met with Raiker and can go recruit people, head over to Neuestadt if you like to have Bruiser in your party. All you have to do is to wack the lights outta every opponent in the Arena, including Bruiser! Without further blabbling, here are the steps to take...

1. Buy tickets for the Arena and enter
2. Talk to guy blocking the door and choose to enter
3. Defeat Imp
4. Defeat Clay Golem
5. Defeat Stone Giant
6. Defeat Blood Slime
7. Defeat Zombie
8. Defeat Blood Wolf
9. Defeat Evilstar
10. Defeat Ice Golem
11. Defeat Bruiser!!

After you win him, he'll congratulate you for your victory and request to join you. Say 'yes' and he's yours. Equip him right away cos' his current weapon is pretty useless...By the way, should you kick Bruiser out of your party to accomodate another character, you can always come back and beat the crap outta him to get him back...^_^

Back 2 Arena!

Location: Neuestadt (and again..)
Rewards: Combo Command

To do this side quest, you must have Bruiser already in your party. Then head back to the Arena to combat a different set of monsters, but first, REMOVE DYMLOS AND EQUIP A NON-FIRE ELEMENTAL WEAPON!!! You'll regret it if you don't....remember...you have been forewarned....

1. Equip a non-fire elemental weapon, preferably Bahamut's Tear
2. Enter Arena and ger ready to fight
3. Defeat Trent
4. Defeat Basilisk
5. Defeat Gas Cloud
6. Defeat Grizzly
7. Defeat Killer Owl
8. Defeat Red Roper
7. Defeat Baldios (mini boss)
8. Defeat Wyvern (now this is what I call boss!)

Baldios isn't much of a challenge but you can count on the Wyvern to kick your sorry ass outta the Arena. Worst of all, IT ABSORBS FIRE!!! So if you didn't listen to my instructions and equip Dymlos, good luck! The Wyvern has 20000HP but is rather weak in offence, so just keep unleashing you specials! (PS: the Sacred skills are all fire elemental so they won't work either...)

After you're done, you'll be rewarded with a Combo Command. It' allows you to do your special moves like a Street Fighter when equipped. But personally, I think it's pretty useless and will only become a burden. But for those who wish to accept the challenge like a true Street Fighter, go ahead and equip it!

Tower of Druaga

Location: Janos / Snow Temple
Rewards: Erm....

This section is really long. It consist of 60 levels of no saving, mind-splitting puzzles and even more action. Therefore it'll be good if you'll just refer to the walkthrough...
