MacSized MOD Packs

One of the nice things about Civilization II is the level of player customization that is available
to the players. There are many MODification packs that have been made by PC users over
the last year or so, and with a little conersion, they can be used by the Mac version.

What the heck is the events.txt file? How do I use it?

The events.txt is a macro language used by the PC version of Civ II to trigger certain eventrs, thereby allowing greater customization of scenarios. Unfortunatly, it is not curently supported by the Mac version of Civ II.

Government types.

Commonwealth. This MOD pack replaces fundamentalism with the Commonwealth style of government. From the Read_Me: Historically, a Commonwealth has been a loose association among areas or even nations. The purpose is generally stability, and in the case of the British commonwealth, TRADE. Basically, you get four new units and four new techs. Techs: Commonwealth (allows Commonwealth Goods), Nationalism (allows Patriots), Trade Union (allows Commonwealth Freight), and Biochemical Warfare (allows Biochemical Msl.). Note: I have not tried this myself, I would appreciate any comments you can make.

Fascism. From the read me: "Simply put, the Fascist Patch offers several rules "tweaks" and a few major changes... the most notable of which is that the Government type "Fundamentalism" has been COMPLETELY removed from the game. In it's place, there is a new government type "Fascism". There is a Facist only unit (stormtrooper) and several new units. WARNING: If the inclusion of swastikas and stomtroopers (Nazis) offends you, I apologize, please do not download this pack. I am not the author of this pack and do not personally like fascism. I do not intend to offend anyone, I just make this file available to enhance the variety available to Mac Civ II players.

Fundamentalism pack. This pack claims to tweak the way the game treat fundamentalism to make it more playable. From the read me : "I have created a patch to enhance the fundamentalist government and make it a little more playable, without merely increasing the science rate... move communism a little closer to the middle of the game... and move democracy a little further along." Warfare

NEW!Modern Warfare. A modern times modpack with new units, icons, & rules.

Science fiction and Fantasy.

Babylon 5. Truly one of the most thorough I have seen, this one seems really well done.

Lord of the Rings, (1.7 MB) converted by Jeff Beiderbeck

New Eden. From the Read_Me: Six nations have made the great leap between the stars to colonize a new planet, which is called New Eden. Some, like the Americans, have been here for decades, and have a large power base. Others have just arrived, but are more technologically advanced. There is much infighting and petty wars among the colonists. Now, a seventh colony has been discovered deep in the untamed wilderness. The Alien Hive threatens all the human colonies. Will the humans be able to overcome their differences and destroy the alien menace, or will the colonization effort fail in a cloud of radioactive smoke?

Fantastic Mod. An extensive modification of the rules by Francis Leonard Chu. Some Units in this include Boba Fett and Super Settlers which can turn ocean into land. Enjoy!

Civil_War, (308 K) converted by Jeff Beiderbeck

Blitzkrieg or Lightning War. A scenario loosely based on WWII, has several neat new units. From the Read Me: 'It is a dark time for the free world. Adolf Hitler has taught the world a new term, "Blitzkrieg" (Lightning War). Nazi forces have marched across Europe and now France and Belgium are shadowed by the coming storm. '

The Viking Age. The year is 850. After a period a chaos surrounding the fall of Rome, Europe has settled down to a period of several hundred years of relative peace and stabillity. All that is about to drastically change. The Vikings have begun a two hundred year period of pillaging and conquering that will leave almost no part of the West untouched. Historically at one time or another they conquered most of the cities in England, Ireland, France, Germany, European Russia, Sicily and even looted as far as North Africa, Constantinople and the Caspian Sea. By the time they finally settled down after converting to Christianity they had profoundly changed history.

New Graphics

The Winter Pack. A neat pack.

Ancient Units. More of a resource than a mod pack, this pack has many iconized ancient units for those building their own mod packs (compiled by Harlan Thompson)
