Michael Jordan forced to retire by Mafia

Wednesday, December 2, 1998

The real reason Michael Jordan retired this year is because the mafia forced him into it.

Dr.X found out the chilling truth when investigating a Mafia gambling scheme. He found numerous betting slips and even threatening letters.

"One of the letters suggested that Jordan owed them a large sum of money" explained the ingenious Dr.X. "The evidence clearly points to the fact that Jordan owed the Mafia millions of dollars in gambling debts. When he couldn't pay, the Mafia 'coerced' him into retiring."

Jordan denies all charges, of course, but Dr.X insists on opening an investigation. "Jordan may have fooled most sports fans, but he did not fool me" says Dr.X. One of his fans, a 12-year-old boy from Wisconsin, cried upon hearing the news. "What kind of man causes a poor child to cry? How can we constantly canonize this villain?" asks Dr.X.

The courts have charged Jordan with lying about his retirement, and making a child cry. If convicted, Jordan can face up to 55 years in prison.
