"Cliffhouse's Reflection"© By: Lionel Dougy
The more closely we look
and the more heedfully we listen
the more deeply we care....
the breeze surfing on a field of grain...
The sight and sound and smell of a campfire....
A doll tattered from loving...
a wavelet hushing itself
asleep on the sand.
Why wait to seek beauty
in some other place at some other time?
It is here and now...
in the abstract design of bare-branched trees
etched against a winter dawn...
in a meadowful of fireflies
like errant amber stars
at play in the summer dusk...
in the sight of two kindergartners
walking hand in hand,
each lending courage to the other
in their newly chartered world.
