Logograms

Hieroglyphs that look like what they mean are called logograms.   The following is a list of logograms.

Important things to notice:
Note the line under or after the logograms.  This line is a determinative stroke.  This sign means that you translate the word to mean what the picture is (hence, it is a logogram).
Notice the sign after the bee.  This sign,  remember from the alphabet, means the letter T.  The Egyptian language, like French but unlike English, differentiates between masculine and feminine words.  The letter T comes at the end of most feminine words.
Also notice that the sign for god is a picture of cloth wound on a pole (a flag).  This sign was used to mean 'god' or 'divinity.'
