Angry tears poured down her pale cheeks as she strode angrily through
the dark city streets. They would pay for what they had done and that was
that. Dark thoughts filled her mind as she angrily tossed her strange
blackish blue hair that waves around her body as she ran. Her ragged
cloths clung to her body as she stumbled and picked herself up again
ignoring the blood that ran from the multiple cuts on her knees and the
palms of her hands. She ignored the people who gave her strange looks as
she brushed pasted them not stopping for an apology or to help when she
knocked someone over. The rage and the pain that consumed her heart,
mind, body and soul too strange for her to care much less see past the
red that clouded her vision.

They had all gathered silently in the living room, and for a long minute
none of them said anything. Ryo had a long look on his face and they all
waited for him to speak. It had been a long day and they were all tired
they could all see it each other eyes and on each others face though no
one said anything. It had been more then a long time day it had been a
long week and a long month and a long year all together. There never
seemed to be enough time to sleep to get rest. They had learned over the
time to get what they could where ever they could get it no matter the
time or the place. But still they were tired and it was just as the quiet
group was about to slip into thought Ryo spoke.
"I know you're all tired,"he said barely stifling his own yawn,"I know
sure as hell I am so I'll try and make this quick."
"Nasuti'll be back next time,"put in Shin quietly,"That'll make things
easier."
"Hai it will,"agreed Ryo with a little smile,"The reason I asked you
all to come here is I think we need to talk about what happened last
week." They were all silent all remembering the horrible thing that had
happened the thing that they had seen and yet been unable to prevent
despight they're best efforts. Still it had not been enough and no one
dared look at any of the others not wanting to see the reflection of his
emotions in his friends eyes.
"There was nothing we could do,"whispered Seiji his voice low and
hoarse, a note of remorse in it's depth,"We all know there was nothing we
could have done, and yet..."
"Then why in the hell do we fell so damned horrible about it,"growled
Shu speaking for the first time the anger apparent on his face as he
leaned forward. They had all noticed that he as well as the rest of them
had lost weight over the past months of battles with not enough time to
rest and hardly any time in between to get a decent bite to eat it was no
wonder that Shu took his food seriously when he did get some.
"Because it's only human,"said Ryo quietly,"In our minds we know it's
not our fault and yet for some reason we can't connives our selves of
that and so we still feel guilty.
"Maybe it's to help us from making the same mistake again,"put in
Touma in a low voice,"If we remember what happened then perhaps we'll be
more careful next time and so it might prevent the same thing from
happening again."
"That could be it,"Shin said,"But what did we do wrong?"
"Nothing,"was Seiji's logical answer,"There was nothing to do. We got
there too late and it was all ready over when we arrived. They were gone
and even I could not have saved all of the people there even if I had
tried."
"Most of them were dead,"put in Shu in a dead voice.
"Why in the hell did they have to kill them?"asked Ryo quietly,"What
were they after? There was nothing there of value and yet ... "
"Because they knew that we would feel like this?"suggested Shin.
"No,"Touma shook his head,"That's not like them they were looking for
something and when they didn't find it they destroyed all was there."
"Then what were they looking for?"... But it was a question that no
one could answer and no one expected an answer to it as they sat there
for a few more long minutes cloaked in silence that seemed almost
stifling.
"Enough,"Ryo stood up,"Get some rest all of you, we never know when
they'll be back."
"Mind if we could get a bite to eat fist?"asked Shu and his stomach
rumbled loudly enough for all of them to hear.
"I'll whip something up quick,"offered a rather subdued Shin as he
stood up,"'Sides I'm sure we could all do with something and you'll sleep
better on a full stomach, no."
   "Hai,"Ryo nodded,"I'll help."
"Arigrato,"Shin said as they two headed into the kitchen leaving the
other three sitting there in the quiet living room. None of them felt
much like talking and soon Shu got up and headed into the kitchen to bug
Ryo and Shin leaving Touma and Seiji alone...
"Why?"asked Touma a few minutes letter,"Why in the hell does it have
to be us doing this? He asked no one even knows what we do and still we
do it again and again even though when we're gone on one is going to
remember or even care."
"Because it's right,"Seiji offered staring at the far wall a strange
look in his icy blue-violet eyes,"Because it's what we do, and even if we
wanted to I don't think any of us could or would change that now. ‘Sides
were would we all be right now if we weren't here...together."
"I don't know,"Touma sighed leaning back and slipping his hands behind
his head staring up at the ceiling,"I don't know."
"What are you going to do when it's over?"asked Seiji a few minutes
later almost out of the blue.
"You know,"Touma turned to look at his friend who sat next to him,"I
don't rightly know that either,"he sighed,"Sad an't it."
   "You'll figure out something,"Seiji gave him a confident look,"You're
smart enough that you could do anything you wanted to."
"Thanks,"Touma almost smiled,"I always knew I could count on you to
back me up."
"You know me,"said Seiji standing up and offering the blue haired
archer a hand,"I'm always here, ‘sides what are friends for."
"We're here to look out for each other,"said Touma excepting Seiji's
hand with a smile,"Now do you suppose we should go in there and see if
those two are taking care of Shu or not?"
"Hai,"Seiji smiled,"I suppose we should." With that the two moved into
the kitchen they're arms brushing against each other comfortable was the
silence between them as they moved and nothing was needed to be said...
