The Horrendous Mistake
Chapter TWO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She paused at the edge of the city for a minute and glanced back
over
her shoulder at the city behind her before she pressed on. The cool
dark
night swirled around her streamers of misted blanketed the ground but
she
paid no attention to them as she continued on. Anger fueling her feet
as
she ran, giving her the strength to go on even after she should have
long
since stopped to rest...
Shin glanced over at the large hulk that lay in the bed next to
his
before he quickly and quietly slipped back the covered and slide his
feet
into the soft slippers next to the bed. Reaching down he grabbed the
bag
he thoughtfully set on the floor at the end of the bed before he'd
gone
to sleep. He know Ryo and the others would probably kill him if they
knew
what he was planning but right then he didn't care. It had been forever
since he'd gotten to go and visit his friends and tonight was the night.
He needed to get away to get away from it all, from what had happened
before and everything else perhaps this would help him clear his mind
as
least he prayed that it would...
Ryo tossed and turned in his bed unable to sleep that night as
he
pounded his fists into the mattress in frustration before rolling over
with another sigh. Why in the hell couldn't he sleep any more it had
been
what seemed like forever since he'd gotten a decent nights rest and
he
didn't know what to do any more. Perhaps he should got talk to Seiji
he
might be able to do something for him but Ryo hadn't quiet gotten that
desperate yet. Besides he was a little embarrassed to admitted to one
of
his best friends that he couldn't sleep. He was even more scared that
Seiji might ask if he had a reason that he couldn't sleep and if he
did
that Ryo wasn't about to tell him or any of the others for that matter
the truth and so he merely rolled over and muttered something nasty
under
his breath... At least after what seemed like forever yet in reality
only
a few minutes later Ryo fell into a restless dream haunted sleep...
He stood on a hill over looking what was left of a battle field
and his
blood ran like icy streams as he stared down at it shivering. The cold
hand of death had touched this place and not to long again the blood
on
the ground was still wet and hadn't yet begun to dry on the bodies
that
it belonged to. No one moved and he stood there for a long time the
cold
wind chilling him to the bone. Suddenly he thought he heard a voice
coming from some where. Ryo whirled around but there was nothing below
or
behind him. Puzzled he turned back to the battle field almost as if
he
were drawn to it. He smell of death hung in the air, and lonely banners
flapped loudly in the wind below. There were two of them one was plan
field of white stained with a crimson blood red in the corners and
the
other had the symbol that belonged to them. A black surface with a
stark
white symbol in the middle the symbol of the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
and he shivered... Then he heard it again someone calling his name
as if
carried across the field by the wind. Suddenly he saw a lone dark figure
moving towards him just over the rise of the far hill... For some reason
a dark terror filled him as he watched the figure move slowly towards
him
and yet he couldn't move instead he found his feet involuntarily carrying
him forward, forward towards the thing he was sure was evil. He couldn't
stop it Ryo tried desperately to turn, to do anything to stop his forward
movement as the panic started to raise in his mind... He felt more
then
heard the soft thing squelch under his foot making him cringe and
paretically glad that he couldn't look down and see what in the hell
it
was he had stepped in. Over head ominous thunder rolled though he could
see no clouds anywhere in sight. Now he could hear the clank of armor
and
his eye locked on the dark figure dressed in amor that came slowly
towards him, then all of the sudden it change and it was no longer
armor
but a girl. A slime dark haired girl her hair seemed almost blue in
the
strange light that surrounded them and he shivered as she met his gaze
with one of her own. Her eyes were filled with an icy hatred that rivaled
anything he had ever seen before and he wondered how one such as her
could look like that. A slow evil smile spread across her face and
her
pert lips curled up in a sneer in one hand she loosely held a katana
and
her other hung loosely at her side.
...fool...
...Who are you?...
...That is none of you're concern...
...But....
...I will come for you when I am ready *she spat eyes flashing* It
is not
yet you're turn *she paused* As for who I am you will know and come
to
fear my name in time...
...Who are you and what do you want? *he asked puzzled*...
...I am Misa Kaua *she replied in a hard voice. Slowly she began to
fade
and he found he could not move* vengeance will be mine *her whispered
word lingered and hung across the battled wind for what seemed like
forever before they were whipped away from him on the wind.*... She
was
gone... Then there out of the blood soaked battle field around him
the
bodies began to raise they're wounds still dripping with blood. They
made
no sound as they slowly moved to surround him and Ryo shrank back in
horror or at least he would have it he had been able to move. Ryo's
eyes
went wide with fear as they closed in closer and closer to him and
those
who still had they're heads. They're eyes were glowing a strange reddish
color then suddenly Ryo sat bolt up right in his bed gasping for breath
the loose t-shirt and boxers he always wore to bed were soaked with
sweat
and slowly he ran a hand through his dark matted hair taking a deep
breath and slowly letting it out. What in the hell had that been all
about, he wished to god that he knew. Ryo fell back to the bed with
a
sigh and stared at the ceiling making up his mind that he would ask
Seiji
if he had something to help him sleep in the morning unfortunately
it was
too late now ...
However unknown to Ryo Seiji was not asleep, he was in fact doing
almost
the same thing lying in bed trying to sleep but knowing there was really
not point in even trying. He rolled over away from the wall for about
the
fith time in who knows how many minutes back towards the window. In
the
bed across from him Touma lay fast asleep as always making Seiji a
little
envious of his friend who seemed to have no trouble what so ever falling
asleep at night that is when he actually went to sleep. A lot of the
time
when they had the time to rest, Touma would loose himself in a book
and
most likely forget to come to bed all together that is if he didn't
finish it before the night was over. But tonight he must have been
to
tired to read Seiji decided with a yawn. He watched the slow raise
and
fall of his friends chest lazily his eyes moved to his friends face.
Touma had a calm, almost angelic look on his face that was strange
and un
usual but it wasn't bad in fact quiet the opposite. Seiji sighed and
reaching down to pick up the magazine Touma had been reading during
dinner. An affair which had seemed to become more and more quiet as
of
late. Flipping it over to the article Touma had been reading he tilted
it
towards the window to catch the dim rays of the sickle moon out side.
The
article was titled ‘The Infinite Expansion of the Universe' He sighed
and
lay it back down. How the hell could Touma understand all that crap
he
wondered. Touma shifted slightly with a sigh of his own in the bed
next
to him. Seiji turn his gaze back to his friend. Not for the first time
he
let himself wondering to what might be going on in his friends head.
What
was he dreaming about? Seiji rolled over back towards the wall trying
not
to think. It was stupid to even wonder about that it only lead to other
things. To things Seiji hardly dared admit even to himself, much less
anyone else. Things he only let himself thing about in the dankest
loneliest hours of the night when he was alone, when sleep refused
to
come to his weary body and mind, and even then...
Shin jogged quietly to the lake shore tossing his bag under the
near by
tree. Stripping down to his boxers his cloths following the bag. With
a
quick glance up at the almost full moon Shin smiled. He took a slow
deep
breath and raced towards the end of the took launching himself off
the
end into the mysterious night darkened waters. Shin surfaced far out
in
the sparkling water of the lake with a smile adrenalin pumping fast
as
the water swelled around him greeting him along with those that inhabited
the depth below him. Shin sank back down letting the dark liquid
closed
in around him, the moon sending waves of silver through the cool water.
Turning over Shin stared up towards the surface the moon gleaming high
over head. Suddenly he felt something brush across his angels. But
he
didn't pull back instead turning to peer down into the inky blue-black
and silver that filled the depths of the lake below. Then out of the
darkness two eyes appeared gleaming bone stark white with only a ring
of
black in their wide depths.
~You are the first to die~ A voice whispered in his mind.
~Who are you?~ he sent the question reeling out in surprise. Hand of
iron
steal locked around his ankles pulling him father down into the
blackness. Shin turned from the thing below him striving and struggling
to reach the surface. But the thing jerked him back further down the
dark
form raising till it floated next to him. Shin blinked at the monster
that floated there next him a cruel smile on his dark lips his eyes
flashing with hidden furry that sent shivers down his spine and just
as
it had appeared it was gone...
Slowly he floated to the surface gulping in a mouth full of cool
air as
he treaded water for a minute taking the time to look around. There
was
nothing but the calm rippling glassy surface of the lake. And nothing
stirred besides him along it's expanse. Not sure what in the hell to
think he slowly struck off towards the shore but it was the sound of
tinkling water on water that brought him to a stop a few minute later.
"Nani?" Out of the water rose a silvery blue figure shrouded
in a
mouth of midnight hair her glowing eyes were the color of the water
that
she floated above,"Who are you?" He asked slowing hard though he wasn't
sure why.
"I am who I am, and I will what I will, all is as it will
or should
be,"she whispered in a snaky unsetlingly soft voice,"Upon yours,"she
waved on slim delicate hand towards the mansion,"And their lives have
flown of course."
"What are you..."his feet touched the bottle and he quickly
moved
backward towards the edge of the water trying not to trip on the unseen
rocks bneath him. But she moved with him gliding easily across the
surface a cruel little smile playing across her nearly perfect features
destroying and changing them into something else... Shin tripped on
the
rocky shore falling flat on his back as the figure gracefully stepped
from the water to the shore the illusion that had made her look like
a
water nymph faded and she stood there watching him. It was something
in
the depth of her eyes that caught his attention that held him trapped
and
he couldn't have looked away if he had wanted to as she slowly and
ever
so slowly stepped to his side.
"So,"she whispered her upper lip curing into a nasty sneer,"You're
one
of the ones who destroyed it all, who destroyed me, destroyed my family,
my home, my life, everything I'd ever known,"there was a hot accusing
sound to her words that bite into his heart slowly eating away at it
and
she looked down at him an expressionless look of nothing on her face
but
her eyes were alive with conflicting emotions,"You made me what I am,
and
now you will suffer at the hand of the monster,"she knelt next to
him,"That you created..."
"But...." But he never go to finish what he was saying
as the hand of
steal that had once pulled him back down into the depths of the water
fastened around his throat cutting off his air supply. He stared up
at
her face that was right above his a wicked smile on her face her eyes
hard not a hint of mercy in they're icy blue-violet depths as the color
slowly drained from his body, ischemai setting in... His vison was
going
red at black at the edges and she dimmed above him fading out with
the
rest of him....
~NNNnnnooooooooooo...................~ He screamed in
his mind as he
knew it was too late and the darkness began sucking him down, trying
to
engulf him in they're inky blackness from which no one ever returned
and
it was in that moment that his vision cleared and he saw her as she
really was in that last moment before death.... ~OH GOD, I DIDN'T MEAN
Toooooooo......~ His body went slack under her his struggle having
been
useless in the end and she stood smoothing the dirt around the swimmers
still warm body. Kneeling she wrote these words in the soft fine white
sand ...Forgive me, For I have sinned and fallen short of the glory
of
god. As must we all in our own time know this warriors I forgive you
but
the force the drives me it something that I do not know and can't
control... With that the thing that was monster, that was girl, and
that
was other stood up and slowly walked away vanishing into the forest.
A
warm breeze shifted through the trees tossing the rusty red-gold locks
on
Shin's forehead and from under on eye lid slide a single silvery tear
carving a pathway down his dry cheek till it melded and disappeared
into
the sand His body was free but his soul still hung in the air guilt
keeping it from flee, and fear of knowing that he was helpless to stop
events from unfolding as he knew they would...
