It was an average day at Maison ikkoku, a run down apartment in eastern japan. Yasuka Godai, a shy, happy go lucky kinda guy was busy studying for his college enterance exams as usual, and as usual, Yotsuya, his next door nebigor, Akemi,t he bartender down the hall, and Hanae and her son Kantarou we throwing a large and loud party in his room, on his desk. Which of course, distacted him, and made him angy.

The next morning the tenants of Maison ikkoku awoke to an angy Godai, storming out of the apartment, declaing he was moving out (as he so often did). No one seemed to care that he was leaving, except for Yotsuya, who used him to peep at akemi while she slept. As he was heading out to inform the manager, a Beautiful woman stepped in the door, claming she was the new manager.

Of course, Yasuka fell head over heels for her at first sight. Making himself seem so mature and self-diciplined. Though this didn't work out well, because the other tenants leave beer bottols, trash, magazines, and other garbage in his room. Another prblem is the godai is very shy, and can barely talk to Kyoko about his feelings, and when he does Yotsuya and the gang always interfier, just to make things hard on him. Of course, Godai gets angry, and begins to throw things and screams. This doesn't make him look very good in kyoko's eyes. And last, but not least, there's Mitaka, mitaka is a very well off coach, who's in love with kyoko. Mitaka and Godai both love Kyoko, and thet know that each other do. which makes them very competitive in everything they do, especialy when they're with kyoko.

Shortly into the Manga and Anime, godai gets into college, and begins to study, after a while, he decides he will become a School teacher, and begins to practice teaching at the high school Kyoko used to attend. By this time he is a bit more mature, and looks older as well, though his character design is the same as it was in the beginning.

This story follows the two, Kyoko and Yasuka, and their adventures in finding their love for each other. it is heartwarming, touching, disappointing, Funny, classy, and smart.

This anime, in my eyes in one of, if not the best Anime/Manga's ever. Rivaled only by Urusei Yatsura, rumiko Takahashi's other classic. The stories and characters are very real and loveable, the situations are funny but touching, and the story is very well written.
