Hi! And welcome to the second chapter of Terrible Destiny... I really hate that title... If anybody has got a better title for it then I'd be happy to hear it. Well... I don't know what else to say so... just get on with the fic! I hope you'll enjoy it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrible Destiny Part two, Barrier spell 100 years later... Xelloss were standing by a window... he was watching the sky... sorrow on his face. No one ever saw him like this, but his heart was filled with sadness... ever since that... day. He had thought he would be with her, but no. He had been so happy when he found out where she were, when he saw her face, when he heard her talk... he knew where she was, he always did. He sighed and turned around to walk towards his door. Even though he knew where she was he could never get close to her, ever. He hadn't been able to brake the invisible barrier, even though he had been searching all these last hundred years. He put his normal cheerful mask on his face, and then he opened the door and stepped out. Xelas was dead... and he was now in her place. No one knew how she had gotten killed... or atleast... everybody thought no one knew, Xelloss had a pretty good idea. He walked down a big hall until he came to a door, he opened it and entered. It was a big library. In there, stood another Mazoku. "Xoles" Xelloss said and closed the door behind him. Xoles turned around. He looked quite young, had short black hair, and wore a set of black clothes. "Yes master?" "Have you found anything new which could help me?" Xelloss asked and looked cheerful. Xoles shook his head "No, I didn't" Xelloss sighed and turned his head to look at a window. Xoles looked at him for a while and then he asked "Master...? Will you ever let me know why you are so obsessed with breaking that barrier spell?" Xelloss turned back to look at Xoles "Sore wa himitsu desu." Xelloss then turned around and exited the library. As soon as Xelloss had left Xoles cursed himself. He knew Xelloss would never tell him about why... but he could never stop asking. His master was known never to tell any secrets to nobody, so why would he tell him? Xoles sighed and leaned against one of the bookshelves. Xoles was a young Mazoku... he had only lived as one in ninety years now... he had much to learn. He was very proud of his master, Xelloss. He had always been known to be a very strong Mazoku... some said he had even been able to control the legendary Lina Inverse. Lina Inverse was back again, she had been gone for about 250 years. She was so powerful, she had lots of servants and was the highest human ever. Xoles knew about some linking between his master and her... but he didn't know what linking. His master had been searching for a spell to undo some kind of barrier... could that have something to do about it? He wished his master atleast would tell him something about it one day, he may be able to help him better then. Xoles sighed and teleported out. Lina was in one of her darker moods. She was sitting alone in a big dark room. She frowned. He was supposed to be back yesterday! Her mind yelled. He was not the type that got late a lot, maybe he had gotten in trouble. Maybe he had gotten attacked and hurt! Lina calmed herself. Yeah right, he? get hurt? veeery funny! He knew how to defend himself allright! Lina shifted uncomfortably. But what if he really had gotten hurt? She asked herself. He might have gotten attacked by a Mazoku stronger than him, she knew very well that Xelloss had taken Xelas place. Heck! She even knew he killed her! Maybe Mazoku were loyal to their masters but only to the point where they got more powerful than them. Xelas should have known that Xelloss would kill her one day... because he... was a really strong Mazoku. She sighed again. Could he have gotten attacked by Xelloss? Could Xelloss have attacked him because he wanted revenge on her? She shook her head. Why would Xelloss do that? She thought for a moment... yes, why would Xelloss do that? She missed him she had to admit, but only to herself, never to somebody else. She had been tempted a few times to undo the invisible barrier... but she never knew what Xelloss would do as revenge. He could just appear in her castle and kill of everyone there... she could never be killed, so he wouldn't try to kill HER but he could kill of everybody she cared for. She sighed. She missed him... she really did... and she hadn't spoke with him for 100 years... and then only in a few minutes before separating them forever. She knew that if he died, she would regret casting the barrier spell, she would regret never being able to say goodbye to him. She once again felt the need to brake the spell... but she knew she shouldn't, after all... Xelloss was such a glutton for punishment. And he would surely punish her for closing him out for a hundred years. She sighed and decided to try to forget about him, like she had decided a thousand times before. Then suddenly her door flung open and she turned to see who it was. "Zelgadiss!" She yelled and ran to greet him. She hugged him and he hugged her back. "I'm sorry for being late". He said and pulled her tighter. "It's allright..." She answered and broke the hug. "Why did it take so long?" She asked him. "I had to do some important business". He answered and frowned. "What business?" She cooked her head to the side. "Business" He simply said. "You are so boring zel! Why do you have to be like that?!" She yelled at him and folded her arms. He chuckled "Am I boring? Then aren't you boring? You've got so many secrets which I don't know of." He smiled at her. She glared at him and started mumbling things like "Stupid zel" and "Why me". He looked at her seriously "One thing I've been thinking about for a long time... how come Xelloss never comes here and annoy us like the old days?" He asked and folded his arms. "I guess he's got more important things on his mind." "And how come you never want to talk about him?" "Guess I don't like to talk about him" "And how come you've shut him out with a barrier spell?". Lina froze, how did he know about that? She was sure she had never told anyone... the only persons who were supposed to know about it was she... and Xelloss. "Who told you?" She asked him and turned to look straight into his eyes. "Guess" He said. "Xelloss told you?" She asked him and he nodded. "I met him on my way back here... he was pretty depressed". He leaned against the wall. Lina was quiet for a moment "...depressed...?" She said quietly. "Yes, I think he wants to see you again... or... he's gotten really miserable for not being able to tease you anymore". Lina was quiet. "Even thought I hate him... I do feel a little sorry for the bastard, I mean... if you shut me out with a magical barrier I would get really depressed... and lonely". She glanced up at him again "He's Mazoku". Zelgadiss narrowed his eyes "I'm a Chimera. And that doesn't change the way I am." He said. Lina was quiet and then turned away from him. "I meet him... one hundred years ago... we had a little talk... and... and..." "And what?" Zelgadiss asked. "Nothing..." She said and broke into a fit of tears. Zelgadiss tried to calm her with a soothing hug. "He didn't do anything... I just thought that he wanted me to join the Mazoku!" She began crying harder. "There, there... he's not worth your tears..." He said "I understand if you feel guilty for shutting him out... but you don't have to cry". He tried to calm her but she just couldn't stop crying. Zelgadiss narrowed his eyes. Why did she cry? She never cried! She hadn't cried a single time in one hundred years! Had something happened after all? Did he do anything to her? Zelgadiss cursed in his mind. If he had done anything to hurt his Lina... then... then.... then he'd make Xelloss regret it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm... I know... this chapter might have been kind of boring... but I didn't have anything to write, really. I think the next chapter is going to be much better... then I'll have something to write about, something to really write about. Well... stay tuned for the next chapter!
