Spirit Warrior is a mysterious figure blessed with a gift to speak
with spirits. Spirit Warrior can be a serving character to his
tribe, or an out cast, or the last chance of the spirits while
the modern religions are spreading and the shamans are reducing
in number.
The main way that a Spirit Warrior serves his spirits is the way
he uses his blade. Mainly a warrior but shamanic in many ways.
Spirit Warriors may be of any alignment. They are generally found
in tribal or barbaric cultures. But this is not a necessity for
them as it is for Shamans. They share the techniques of Shamans
but their origin can be totally different. They can come from
Oriental cultures (Japanese mythology is generally based on over-naturel
spirits and four elements of nature), Celt like culture or they
can be just from a society which once had shamans in service.
As they are working for spirits they need physical strength and
to deal with spirits they need wisdom. A Spirit Warrior which
has 16 or better score in both Strength and Wisdom earns %10 bonus
to XP he gains.
Spirit Warrior is a warrior subclass such as Ranger and Paladin.
Spirit Warriors follow the Paladin/Ranger level advancement.
Spirit Warriors follow the Warrior THAC0 advancement.
Spirit Warriors follow the hit point advancement.
Spirit Warriors follow the Paladin/Ranger saving throws.
Spirit Warriors can wear any armor but they prefer natural armors
like Paladins prefer plate-mail to other armors. Spirit Warriors
can use any weapon but if they are from a barbaric culture they
can start with only tribal weapons.
Spirit Warriors can become specialist in any weapon they wish.
But they cannot become masters anyway. Their relations with spirits
take separate time pieces from them, so they cannot concentrate
on anything such a long time as weapon mastery requires. They
can begin the game with a specialised weapon. But they cannot
specialise in another weapon before they reach 3rd level, for
a third specialisation they must wait until 5th level etc
Their cost for specialisation is 3 CPs. These CPs are spend after
Spirit Warriors cannot use priestly magical items. But they have
a non-weapon proficiency crossover with the priest group. They
have no spell casting abilities, but they have special connection
with spirit world similar to shamans'.
Spirits:
They can communicate with spirits but the number of spirits they
can have as an ally is less than shamans can have. The number
of spirits that a Spirit Warrior knows how to contact is given
in the table below.
