Mars, 3 May 1999, with a tripod mounted Sony CCD F-34 camcorder setup afocally with an 8" SCT.  Using auto-exposure, the camera ran at 1/100 second and Rod comments that the video images were a little dark and need a little work.  He used minimal image processing with these images using Photoshop and CCDSoft.  Both images are from the same frame, the image at right was processed monochrome.

Battling cranky batteries, voracious bugs and less than ideal seeing, Rod was able to capture a few images of the Red Planet using a Sony CCD F-34 camcorder in an afocal setup with his 12.5" Dobsonian with a 26mm Celestron Plossl and 2x Barlow.  The camera was handheld and the video image was processed with CCDSoft and Adobe Photoshop.

Working with what Rod describes as a very undistinguished image of Gassendi, he was able to bring out a considerable amount of detail using the Richardson-Lucy processing routine in his CCDSoft image processing program.
