Mask Frame Tutorial

For this tutorial your will need PSP6 and the 2020 program which can be
downloaded from
http://www.hotfreeware.com

Open the graphic you want to frame and resize as necessary.  Shift + D to duplicate the original and set aside for now.  

Add a Layer to the original.  

With the Eyedropper tool left click a color in the graphic to set your foreground color.

  Open the mask you're going to be using.   This is the one I used, Right click
and save to your hardrive.

Go to Masks, New, From Image and select your mask and settings as below then click Ok.

Click on the Flood Fill Bucket and in the Tool Options use the below settings.

Left click in your graphic.  You should now have something like below.

Go to Masks, Delete and say yes when the box below pops up.

Click on the Magic Wand then click on the mask frame.  You should have something as below.

No go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel.  I used the settings below.

Click on the Magic Wand and click in a corner, hold down the shift key and click in the other 3 corners.  In the Layers Palette, make the background layer active, right click and Promote to Layer then hit the delete key.   Go to Selections, Select none. 

If you still have parts of the graphic showing in any of the 4 corner, zoom in and use the eraser tool to erase the rest.   

Go to Layers, Merge Visible and set aside.  

Make the duplicate graphic active then go to Edit, Copy.   Open 202 and go to Edit, Paste as new Image.  Click on Tile Effect, then Edit, Copy.   Back in PSP go to Edit, Paste as new Image.  

Open a new graphic 1024 x height of your graphic, transparent background.    Click on the Flood Fill Tool and in the Tool Options use the below settings.

Click on the Middle Tab and select the 2020 tiled image as your pattern and flood fill your new image as below.

Make your framed Image active then go to Edit, Copy.  Make your new background image active and go to Edit, Paste as new Layer.  Align to the left as below.

Go to Layers, Merge all Flatten.  

Sign and Save.
