Pleats 1 Tutorial
For this tutorial you
will need PSP6 and FMTile Tools. FMTile is
Shareware, and only a couple of them work till you register but
the
Seamless filter works. You can download at
http://www.fantasticmachines.com
Open the graphic you want to use and resize as necessary, I resized this one to 221 x 300. Go to Image, Sharpen, Sharpen. Now go to Image, Plugin Filters and find FMTile Tools and select Seamless Tile:
Next window put a check by Vertical then click on apply:
With the Eyedropper tool, right click on a color in the graphic to set your background color. Now go to Image, Canvass Size and in Dimensions put in New Width 1024, New Height 300, make sure there are no checks by Center Image Horizontally and Vertically, then say Ok. You should have something like below:
Now go to Image, Add Borders and set like below:
You should now have something like the below. The reason I add borders at the top and bottom is so I don't have those ugly gaps when I add the dropshadows.
Now click on your selection tool, Set Tool Options to Rectangle, Feather 0, Antialias unchecked and make a selection 10 pixels wide like below:
Now go to Edit, Copy then Edit, Paste as new Selection and place it at the very end of the graphic like below:
Now go to Image, Effects, Dropshadow, I used the settings below, say Ok.
Go to Edit, Paste as new Selection again and place just to the left of the other Pleat like below:
Then go to Image, Effects, Dropshadow and use the same settings as before. Your image should now look something like below:
Now go to Selections, Invert. Should look something like below:
Go to Image, Effects, dropshadow and apply the same settings as before. Right click to deselect. Now make a selection the width of the graphic but cutting off the top and bottom borders like below:
Then go to Image, Crop to Selection. Sign and Save.
