Spikey Halo Frame Tutorial

Made in PSP6 but should work in 7 fine.

Make your duplicate graphic that you set aside earlier active.  Now go to Image, add borders and use the settings below.

Click on your Magic Wand and select your new border.  Flood fill with your plaid.  Should look something like below.

With the border still selected go to Image, Deformations, Spikey Halo and use the below settings.

Now go to Selections, Invert.  You're ants should be running around your main graphic as below.

Now go to Image, Effects, Cutout and use the below settings.

Now go to Image, Effects, Dropshadow and use the below settings.

You should now have something like below.

Using your Eyedropper tool, right click on a color from your graphic to set it as your background color.   Now go to Image, Add Borders using the below settings.

Click on your Magic Wand then click on the new border to select it.  Then go to Image, Effects Inner Bevel and use the settings below.

With the Eyedropper Tool, left click a different color in your graphic to set as your foreground color then click on the arrows to reverse the foreground and background colors.

Go to Image, Add Borders again and use the settings below.

Reverse your foreground and background colors again by clicking on the arrows as before.  Then Image, Add Borders again with the below settings.

With the Magic Wand click on the new border to select then go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel and use the same settings as before.

With your Magic Wand select the new Border and flood fill this border with your plaid.  Should look something like below.

Go to Image, Add Borders again using the below settings.

With the Magic Wand select your new border then go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel and use the same settings as before.

Deselect all then go to Image resize and resize to the same height as your plaid.  In my case 300 in height.  Then go to Image, Sharpen, Sharpen.

Open a new graphic, 1024 x height of your graphic, 1024 x 300 in my case.  Now floodfill the new graphic with your plaid.

Make your Spikey Halo Frame graphic active then go to Edit, Copy.

Make your plaid background image active then go to Edit, Paste, As New Layer and move over to the left of your background as below.

Add a new layer then with the Magic Wand click on the right of the Spikey Halo graphic to select the background area then go to Selections, Invert.  Now go to Image, Effects, Dropshadow and use below settings.

Click on the deformation tool.

When the handles show up on your graphic, something like below

Stretch up 1 or 2 pixels then stretch down 1 or 2 pixels then double click somewhere on the background area to apply the deformation.  This gets rid of any gaps in your dropshadow.

Deselect then go to Layers, Merge All Flatten.   Sign and Save

Below is my finished stationery, shown smaller to save space.
