Transparant Frame Tutorial

For this tutorial you will need PSP 6 and the 2020 which is availabe
at
http://www.hotfreeware.com

Open your graphic and resize if necessary (I usually resize to 300 high) then go to Image, Sharpen, Sharpen.  Then go to edit, copy, open 2020 and paste as new image then use the Tile Effect on it.  Edit, copy and paste back into PSP for your bg, set aside for now.   Set your background color to a color that is not in your graphic and set your foreground to the color you want you border/frame to be.

Go to Image, Add Borders, Symmetric checked.  I used 8 for this one but you can use what you want, say ok.   Click on the Magic Wand and select your new border then floodfill with your foreground color.  Then go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel.  These are the settings I used.

Go to Image, Add Borders, Symmetric checked, This time I used 20, say ok.   Reverse your foreground and background colors.  Go to Image, Add Borders again, Symmetric checked, this time I used 15.  Select the new border with the Magic Wand then go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel, I used the same setting as before.  Go to Image, Resize and Resize back down to the same heigth as the duplicate(in my case 300 high).  Then go to Image, Sharpen, Sharpen.   With the Magic Wand select the middle border and go to Selections, Modify, Expand and put in a 1.

Now go to File, Export, Transparant Gif.  This window will pop up.

Click on the Use Wizard Button in the bottom left corner.

In the next window, put a dot by Convert matching colors to transparant.  To change the color of the little box put your cursor in the blue border of your frame (it turns into an eyedropper) and left click.  Then click next.

The Window below pops up.  I picked a color from my 2020 bg image that I made earlier.  Just move your cursor to the background image it will change to an eyedropper again and left click a color from the duplicate.  Then click next.

Next Window put a dot by, No, choose the best colors, then click next.   Next Window make sure slider is way at the top, click next.   In this window if you're satisfied with how it looks click finish.  Give it a name and save.

To make the background.  Open a new graphic 1025 x heigth of your graphic (in my case 300)  Click on the flood fill tool and in Tool Options, Select Pattern, click on the middle tab and click the little arrow and select your duplicate graphic as the pattern and flood fill your new bg graphic.  Give it a name and save as a .jpg.   This tutorial used the script where the background remains still and the Transparant Frame graphic scrolls on the left.  You can
download the script
here.
