Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 1 Hour
Set List:
Sleeping in the Ground, Sea of Joy, Under my Thumb, Can't Find My Way Home, Presence of the Lord, Had to Cry Today, Do What You Like
Comments: A great set from this short lived super group from 1969 featuring Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Rick Grech. Winwood sounds as soulful as ever and adds some great keyboard, and Clapton really sizzles throughout. Baker is excellent as always and steady support from Rick Grech too. Sea of Joy is very good, Can't Find My Way Home exquisite as always and Had to Cry Today is a great rocker as on the album. Clapton's playing here is amazing, as always.
Live at Hyde Park, London, England, July 6, 1969
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 75 Minutes
Set List:
Well Alright, Sea of Joy, Sleeping In the Ground, Under My Thumb, Can't Find My Way Home, Do What You Like, Presence of the Lord, Means to an End, Had to Cry Today
Comments: This is the famous free concert the band gave and it is indeed a very good show. Clapton in particular is very fluid on the guitar and delivers some excellent solos throughout the show. Nearly the entire album is played and the songs sound different and excellent in a live setting. The recording quality is very good too.
Live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 26, 1969
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 1 Hour
Set List:
Had to Cry Today, Can't Find My Way Home, Sleeping in the Ground, Well Alright, Presence of the Lord, Do What You Like, Sunshine of Your love
Comments: This is another excellent show, featuring Steve Winwood on rhythm guitar as well as his usual keyboards. Had to Cry Today is really strong and has a great Clapton solo. Well Alright is blistering, especially at the end, and Presence of the Lord features a manic wah-wah break from Eric that is breathtaking. A great version of Sunshine of Your Love, which must have been bittersweet for Eric and Ginger, closes this set with a great long jam. This one is great!
Live at Greek Theatre, San Francisco, California, August 26, 1969
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 1 Hour
Set List:
Well Alright, Can't Find My Way Home, Had to Cry Today, Sleeping In the Ground, Crossroads, Presence of the Lord, Means to an End, Do What You Like
Comments: An excellent show with fiery playing from Clapton, especially on a slow and funky Crossroads. The jamming is excellent throughout and the sound on the recording is excellent too. The only complaint is the lack of material, since they only recorded a 6-song album. They draw upon some Cream blues standards and Traffic songs. Still, great playing.
