Cream:Live 1967:
Live at the BBC
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 15 Minutes
Set List:
Sunshine of Your Love, Outside Woman Blues, SWALBR, Steppin' Out
Comments: These are four GREAT versions of great Cream songs. They are compact, live in the studio versions of two great live showpieces and two great album cuts that were rarely, if ever performed live. The shorter versions don't lose any intensity though!
Live at the Ricky Tick Club, Hounslow, England, January 15, 1967
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
Sunshine of Your Love, Lawdy Mama, Sweet Wine, Rollin' and Tumblin', Spoonful, Sittin' On Top of the World, Toad
Comments: An amazing and fiery, all too short show. From the sounds of the stage announcements, this was a complete set. The playing is simply amazing, and the pace is fast and furious and the setting of a small club makes it really intimate and intense. This must be one of the earliest versions of Sunshine of Your Love ever and it sounds different than it would later in the year. The jams are too short..that's the only complaint about this show!
Live at Konsurthuset, Stockholm, Sweden, March 7, 1967
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
NSU, Steppin' Out, Traintime, Toad, I'm So Glad
Comments: An excellent show performed for a short radio broadcast show. The songs are not extended as much as they will be within the next 3-6 months. Cream is experimenting with improvisations as the middle of NSU and I'm So Glad demonstrate. An excellent sounding recording helps me to enjoy this show even more!
Live at the Tulip Bulb Auction Hall, Spaulding, England, May 29, 1967
Sound: Very good soundboard
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
N.S.U., Sunshine of Your Love, We're Going Wrong, Steppin' Out, Rollin' and Tumblin', Toad, I'm So Glad
Comments: This was a gig called the Barbecue where Cream shared the bill with Hendrix and Pink Floyd. This show is powerful and LOUD in front of a wild crowd. Unfortunately, Cream doesn't stretch the songs out as long as they started too by year's end, because the playing here is incredible! Clapton is incendiary and the recording really picks up Ginger's thunderous drumming. The beginning is low on bass and Jack's vocals but this fixes itself soon. Good sound on such an old show too!
Live at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, September 9, 1967
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 90 Minutes
Set List:
Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of Your Love, N.S.U., Sittin' On Top of the World, Steppin' Out, Traintime, Toad
Comments: An amazing and excellent show in great quality. The improvisations are LONG, with Sunshine of Your Love and N.S.U. containing very long jams and solos that are staggering. The three solo showcases are also incredibly intense and spectacular. A show rivaling the October one in Detroit.
Live at the Psychedelic Supermarket, Boston, Massachusetts, September 10, 1967
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
Spoonful, Sweet Wine, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of Your Love
Comments: This is a short and powerful fragment from this show. Finally, they were starting to stretch out the pieces....Spoonful and Sweet Wine are killer jams. Eric lets rip with a great solo at the end of Ulysses, and Sunshine is a piledriver as always. It's a shame the rest of this show isn't around, as I am sure it'd be just as good!
Live at Braintree, Massachusetts, September 11, 1967
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 5 Minutes
Set List: Tales of Brave Ulysses
Comments: Great performance of this song, this is all that is known to exist. Where's the rest?!
Live at the Grande Ballroom, Detroit, Michigan, October 15, 1967
Sound: Very good/Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Tales of Brave Ulysses, NSU, Sitting On Top Of the World, Sweet Wine, Rollin' and Tumblin', Spoonful, Steppin' Out, Traintime, Toad, I'm So Glad
Comments: This is absolutely the best ever recorded live performance. The playing and jamming here is staggering, and the virtuosity is so incredible that I laugh every time I hear it. NSU, Sweet Wine, and Spoonful are 20-minute jams that move through different sections and are absolutely unbelievable. This is a must have from Cream.
Live at Konsurthuset, Stockholm, Sweden, November 14, 1967
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 70 Minutes
Set List:
Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of Your Love, Sleepy Time Time, Steppin' Out, Traintime, Toad, I'm So Glad
Comments: An excellent show, which shows Cream truly pushing the limits of rock in the improvisations and talent. Clapton in particular is fiery and savage and plays some truly amazing guitar. Bruce and Baker are stellar as always and the jamming on Sleepy Time Time and I'm So Glad is just exceptional! This is an excellent and fairly rare Cream show!
Live at the Revolution Club, London, England, December 1967
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 10 Minutes
Set List:
Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of Your Love
Comments: WOW! Unknown date, this is from a great live video of Cream I have. These performances are awesome, and I wish more from this was available. I have this on a CD of great assorted live Cream from 1967.
