Comments: A scorching show! This group, Clapton's last good thing he did, features excellent bass, drums, and keyboards from Carl Radle, Jim Gordon, and Bobby Whitlock, respectively, and Clapton's most amazing playing. Although he was scorching with Cream and Blind Faith, this captures him at the height of his emotional expressionistic playing and super charged guitar pyrotechnics. The band as a whole is amazing too! Recommended!

Comments: Another excellent, emotionally charged performance. Clapton is soaring and his playing is amazing, especially on the blues workouts and extended jams. Excellent performances by the rest of the group support his guitar pyrotechnics and allow him the freedom to explore different styles of his playing. Excellent and recommended.

Comments: A great last show from this run. Clapton's playing is super-charged with emotion...check out this blistering version of Little Wing, a tribute to his best friend Jimi Hendrix. Let it Rain features electrifying playing form the whole group and a great drum solo, along with incredible jamming throughout the show. I must recommend this one too!

Comments: An excellent show with really impassioned playing..Clapton has never sound this good after the disbanding of this group. This is his last venture into truly intense and exciting music. He combines the fire and pyrotechnics of his playing with Cream within the maturity of songs and structure he learned in Blind Faith. There are many songs not normally played live by the group, including Keep On Growing and Stormy Monday. The improvisations are great and this show is awesome!
Live at Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California, November 20, 1970 (early show)
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 90 Minutes
Set List:
Got to Get Better In a Little While, Key to the Highway, Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad, Blues Power, Have You Ever Loved a Woman, Tell the Truth, Trouble at My Door (Tell Me), Let It Rain
Comments: An excellent sounding early show by the band, who steamroll through the set. There is a minimal amount of chatter between numbers, and the songs are played with sheer guts one after another. The band is on fire, especially Clapton who is just mind boggling in his solo passages and singing, especially in the immensely long jams on Tell the Truth and Let It Rain. The blues number segue seamlessly into each other and the solos seem to be hardwired to his heart while the rest of the band provides solid and exciting support behind him as they all jam out. Great stuff!

Comments: Another excellent and energetic show. Clapton plays fiery leads in a variety of voices and styles and his singing is excellent too. The jams are exciting and allow everyone in the group to really stretch out and improvise. The sound is excellent on this as on the first show. These two are great ones to have!

Time: Approx. 90 Minutes
Set List:
Layla, Got to Get Better In a Little While, Key to the Highway, Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad, Blues Power, Have You Ever Loved a Woman, Bottle of Red Wine, Let It Rain
Comments: Duane Allman plays with the band at this show! His slide playing is awesome as always and he plays great lines behind Clayton's incendiary leads. His playing is truly inspired and he tears through the solos with a vengeance, especially on the drawn out sections of the originals. Two legendary players on stage with an excellent band is not a show to be missed!
