The Smiths: Live 1984:

Live at Hammersmith Palais, London, England, March 12, 1984

Sound: Very good soundboard

Time: Approx. 70 Minutes

Set List:

Miserable Lie, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, This Charming Man, Girl Afraid, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Still Ill, This Night Has Opened My Eyes, Barbarism Begins at Home, Back to the Old House, What Difference Does It Make, I Don't Owe You Anything, Reel Around the Fountain, Hand In Glove, You've Got Everything Now, Handsome Devil, These Things Take Time

Comments: I stumbled across this show in a used music store and what an incredible one it is! The guitar is a little high in the mix and the bass guitar a little low, but it's an incredible show. The set list is very varied, and this is one of the best versions I've ever heard of Barbarism Begins at Home. The drums and bass are amazing, and Johnny Marr's guitar work is nothing short of spectacular throughout. Morrissey jokes around with song titles too. Great show!

Live at De Meervaart Hall, Amsterdam, Holland, April 21, 1984

Sound: Very good soundboard, a bit slow

Time: Approx. 70 Minutes

Set List:

Hand In Glove, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Barbarism Begins at Home, This Charming Man, Miserable Lie, I Don't Owe You Anything, What Difference Does It Make, Girl Afraid, This Night Has Opened My Eyes, Still Ill, These Things Take Time, Handsome Devil

Comments: This is a good recording, except for the fact that the speed is slightly too slow. The sound is still good, really crisp in the bass and drums. This is one of the best versions of Barbarism Begins at Home I have ever heard. Overall this is a very solid, good show.

Live at Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany, June 4th, 1984

Sound: Very good soundboard

Time: Approx. 70 Minutes

Set List:

Hand in Glove, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Girl Afraid, This Charming Man, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Still Ill, Barbarism Begins at Home, This Night Has Opened My Eyes, Miserable Lie, You've Got Everything Now, Handsome Devil, What Difference Does It Make, These Things Take Time, This Charming Man, Hand In Glove, Barbarism Begins at Home

Comments: This is a very good show from 1984. The band is really tight and the rhythm seciton in particular makes this show great for me. Andy Rourke's bass playing is excellent as always and sometimes breathtaking, and Mike Joyce is an amazing drummer. Marr's guitar is clear and impeccable and Morrissey is simply great as always. One of my favorite new shows.
